I’ve never seen that razor before but I’ll have to say, space and weight restriction ms must have to be pretty tight that the traveller can’t find room for a 2 1/2” couple of ounces handle. True and good points. It may have been just more of a cheap advertiser give away more than anything else.

Somehow missed this post earlier. Thanks Chris, took the day off to prepare for meeting tonight but looking at 70's here today

So after reflection I've decided that the mustache will be shaved after a walk at the park with my wife and some lunch before getting home. When the hair is growing at the top of the mustache are getting confused with hairs in the nose and you don't want to get into that trimming situation to have a line of demarcation, I've decided that it's time for it to go.

It's time for a haircut and a shave of the back of my neck anyway.

AS 1: Humphrey's Alcoholado Maravilla 70
AS 2: Ethos Succès SFS
Fragrance: Ethos Succès EDP

Well at first I was adding water to try and match some of the pics I've seen in gorgeous lather shots but ended up breaking the lather with too much water. I told myself that I'm actually just using the soap without adding extra butters that those pics have. I'm not opposed to that process but I can't expect mine to look the same without the additional butters. Before pass 2 I added more product to get back to basics and got a beautiful lather with just the Ethos soap and had a great shave. I admire what guys can do with additives and enjoy seeing their pics but I have to remind myself when I see them now, it isn't just the soap they are listing and technique that is producing that lather and we can't expect to see the same if just using the soap from the artisan. I gotta stick with what I do that I know works for me and feels good as I buy soaps based on what THEY produce with their own ingredients and me not having to re-engineer it. Succès is an amazing scent and I smell and feel great. Have a great shave and day DFS !!!

What is this “additives” and “butters” of which you speak?  Call me naive but I’ve always assumed that those pics were legit snd that if I took just a little more time and added incremental,weighed amounts of water I’d get lather like that too. So now there’s PEDs in shaving too?!

That's what I assumed (MY bad) as well. They haven't hid it but if you start reading without the background you think your technique is off. If you go to the earlier parts of that thread (page 13 in particular) they are adding and show how to add I think it was shea, mango and kokum butters which thickens the lather more but in my mind it is no longer Ethos, Stirling or whatever soap but has been remixed. That's just my take at least unless I missed something. Again, I'm not discounting the results. I'm just not wanting to complicate my process that much. Happy shaves everyone.

I hear you Dave. There’s no doubt that we’re all into process to a greater or lesser extent, the fact that we’re into wet shaving is conclusive proof of that, but there’s limits to how far one goes down that road and we each draw our own line. Personally, I’m not prepared to go that far and, like you, I want to experience the product as the maker intended and furthermore, does the addition of that extra stuff appreciably improve the performance or just create an impressive lather?
