both of these already exist. if you go into your user settings> edit site options (under the Your Profile tab), you can adjust your PM notification settings:



also, if you're subscribed to a thread, you'll receive notifications. you'll find the thread subscription options below the text editor area by clicking on the extra post options button:

I love this site since Chris turned me on to it.  I wouldn't change a thing.  I like that it is not owned by a soap maker and one has to watch what one says.  Awesome shaving forum.

TMatherne , it sounds like its 1024 wide, but not very tall. Try resizing the browser window to about 800px wide; it sounds crazy that you make it smaller to see more but it SHOULD work.

I think there should be a section for beginners so they can get tips and ask for advice.

A more visually appealing layout like Google + or Facebook would make the forum more user friendly.

The site seems great. I do think that some kind of instant messaging option would be nice.

A Like or No Like section. Imagine a section where people can see a review of any product. recommending a product or not. Example An expert user (wet shaver) got a new item and he record a review of the product with Pros and Cons. And he Like o No Like the product as a guide for people to consider getting the product or not.
Must be a quick Review vid. And Dynamic I vote for no more than 3 to 5 mins some time people hate to watch too long vids.(20min.) or more. IMO
