Hi everyone,

I'm the subscriber formerly known as Uzi.  I've opened an online retail store called Crown & Crane and we have a really good product line that includes both vegan and tallow shaving soaps, beard oils, and beard balms.  Shortly, we'll be offering bath soap and shaving balms as well.  We also have a number of shaving soaps with scents that will appeal to women, so don't hog all the good lather for yourselves. Let your wives and girlfriends share in the fun of wet shaving.

I'll use this thread to keep you updated on Crowne & Crane news, new products and sales. If you want to be notified, then be sure to sign up for our newsletter. The only bad news I have is that, at this time, we can only sell products within the United States.  I do have some good news too.

GOOD NEWS!
DFS Sale: For DFS members only, during the entire month of September (or while supplies last), we're going to be offering 10% off everything in the store.  Just use the coupon code: DFS10

We're looking forward to serving you.  Oh, and like us on Facebook if you get a chance.

Any chance of an ingredients listing? I'm curious about a few of the scents but have a few known issues with certain ingredient and lye combinations.

Congratulations Karl! You have a nice range of scent offerings and I'm looking forward to trying a couple of them as soon as I can pare down some of what I already have!

I look forward to the goodies you design. I second the request for the ingredient list, unless I am missing it on your site. I will still think of you as Uzi though!

So I'll jump in here... I have a few of the products that Karl offers.

I can say that all of the scents are fantastic, to my nose. Extremely pleasing.

The tallow formula soap performs right up there with B&M Latha and L&L Grooming, which are my top soaps at the moment. These 3 rule the den currently in terms of scent and performance.

The vegan formula is equal to the tallow for me. I notice no difference, though the tallow seems slightly more thirsty to me.

The beard oil is very light with, again, a fantastic scent. Excellent ingredient list with everything my beard needs to shine and feel soft. The beard balm is very easy to use, melts in the palm readily and still provides very good all day control.

An excellent selection of products all the way around. The soaps and oil will definitely become a fixture in my den.

Full disclosure: Karl asked if I would be willing to test his products and offer my insight to him simply because I have a big beard and I still shave daily. Evidently a rare commodity. There was never any discussion of nor offer of reviews in exchange for product. I am not a reviewer. The above comments are basically the same comments I made to Karl and to others in private, and they are my honest opinion of the products. I have not been paid for reviews, nor will I be paid.

In fact, I think Karl is a bit of a crack dealer in this case because these soaps will definitely stay in my den. The first one was free but I think he knows I will be back for more. The stuff is fantastic!

I was also one of the testers for Karl's products. I have tested 4 different scents in the veggie formula and 1 in the tallow. I will go over the scents below. I realize scents are subjective but all 5 below are excellent. Fwiw my wife especially loves the Venitian Bellini.

Performance is excellent on the vegan formula. It provides plenty of cushion and slickness and lathers easily. I have only used the tallow once but it performed very well. I look forward to testing the tallow some more.

Venetian Bellini - This one is very strong and fruity. I don't want to say citrus because it doesn't remind me of citrus, it reminds me of bright smelling fruit.

Barbershop - Wow! I have never been a fan of barbershop scents really, but Stirling is the exception. Well, this one is right there with Stirling.

Tabacco Leaf & Amber - Oh boy! This is the scent I love most from C&C and a must try for tobacco lovers imo. The scent strength is moderate to strong with tobacco right off the top without any chance of mistaking it, yet there is a very subtle amber and sweetness from the vanilla that truly makes this the most delicious tobacco scent I have tried.

Cognac & Cubans - Another great scent. I get more cigar than cognac which I like.

Lavender & Cedar - This one arrived yesterday and it the only tallow soap I have from C&C. I was happy to learn that Karl uses Atlas cedarwood with lavender for this scent. This is easily the best lavender and cedar scent I have tried. It has a sweeter note to it which I attribute to the atlas cedar.

Hi Karl & Liz,
I wish you lots of success in this venture. I went to your site. I love the labels on your soaps - great artwork!
One question - do you have samples of shave soaps available for sale?

Thanks for the question and for visiting the site nachum,

We don't have samples yet, but we plan on having them shortly. We're just trying to get the ball rolling at the moment. As soon as we have some samples, I'll shoot you a PM.

Thanks,
Karl

Thanks for the scent impressions Hobbyist. Tobacco Leaf & Amber and Cognac & Cubans were the two I was homing in on. I like Barbershop scents too though so I may have to try that one.
