So I got home from work last night, went to the mailbox and found my box I' razors. As I'm pulling the box out, one of my neighbors is sitting there having a smoke. He says off hand, "Boxes are always good." I say, " Yea especially boxes full of razors." And the unexpected chat occurred...
Turns out he is a recent convert to traditional shaving. He's been using a New Long Comb for about a month and loving the process. I found out he had no brush and only a puck of Williams soap, so he has still been using gel. That won't do. I gave him an Omega S-Brush and a bunch of soap samples I had laying around. We talked shop for a while about lathering techniques and such. We discussed the broken handle on his New and his desire to eventually try a straight. We talked about DFS.com and the hobby of wet shaving.
He might join here or not. I'm not sure. He bought my Old Type Brownie set so he could have a second razor. I sold it for what I paid...not trying to make a buck just passing it along. I gave him a bunch of blades to try, and told him that if he was serious about trying a straight I would loan him one, and if he liked it, we could work something out. He's not ready yet, but I think he will be sooner rather than later.
Anyhow, it was very cool to chat with someone in person about shaving. I don't really know anyone else around me that is into shaving as a hobby so it was a pleasant surprise. I just wanted to share...
