Convince me why I should get a Paladin

I get it handle wise. Some of you would pay $1000 for a brush handle made from a unicorn horn, but that's not what I am looking for when I use a shaving brush. Is the knot that much better than say my savile row or thater?

It sounds like you may already know what you like/want. What do you mean by “that much better”? It’s Badger hair just like your Seville Row and Thater, the only differences would be subtle differences in knot construction and batch of hair and how much the hair has been treated etc.. If you were really interested in a Paladin, the “Knot Notes” on the Paladin website may be beneficial to you depending on what your personal preferences are in a knot, and whether or not you face or bowl lather etc.. If you’re looking to just make a good lather I think your money would be better spent on a Yaqi Synthetic or one of the APShave Co Brushes. The Knots on a Paladin Brush aren’t going to make better lather for you than any other Brush, and Synthetics will probably do it better in all honesty. It all depends on whether or not you like the feeling/experience of Badger. This is coming from someone who’s favorite Brushes are Paladin. Hope that helps!

Every aspect of the brush is thoroughly considered. Ken’s attention to detail is unparalleled. I’ve found the knot notes to be very accurate, so relative to other brushes, there is a higher likelihood that the knot will meet or exceed expectations. As good as the handles look in photos, I believe you will still be even more impressed seeing one in person.

Knot notes sounds like a good place to start. The handle really doesn't make me want one. I have seen a few in person, and while they look nice, that isn't what will be touching my face. I'm not strictly a badger guy at all either, but I have a few that feel really nice. I also use synthetic/boar just as much.

For me personally, part of purchasing a Paladin was the Handle/Fit/Finish, but the knots that I have from them are excellent. As Watson stated above, the Knot Notes that Ken puts out for each type of Knot has been spot on. The knots that Paladin has been working on with their suppliers for the past few releases have been some of the nicest I’ve owned for my tastes. Paladins Knots are definitely no slouches and hold their own with any Brush that I’ve ever owned or used. It’s all a matter of what you’re looking for.

Do you want to be convinced? Doesn't sound like it. I have two, down from 4. They are very nice brushes, but my Morris & Forndran Blonde Badgers, my Rooneys, my Declaration and my Two Band Simpsons are slightly better. Not by much, but I like them better.

I have a beautiful Paladin, with a marvelous knot. I’m not sure that it’s better than my M&F Blonde, Declaration B4, Rudy Vey Shavemac two-band silver tip or Elite Manchurian, but I don’t think I have a better brush than my Paladin. I have many I don’t enjoy as much.

To be completely candid, if you don't place value on what we put into producing handles, I don't know why you'd pay the price for one of our brushes. We also put a lot of time and effort into sourcing knots, matching knots with handles, setting knots, photographing each brush (front and back with the knot as set), and describing knots as objectively as we can. But unless you care about that stuff, it really doesn't matter. We don't claim to offer knots made of unicorn hair. It all comes from the same place, and I know other artisan brush-makers source from the same suppliers we use. That said, I also know the knots we currently have are as good as any Lee Sabini installed in our handles.

It all comes down to what a brush signifies and whether/how it contributes to an enjoyable shaving experience for a particular individual. Based on what you've posted here, I wouldn't expect what we offer to be worth the price to you.

Just based on this post I want to buy one now for the absolute honesty really, and I wasn't knocking your handles BTW. I'm not a, "Brush guy." Some people are, "Razor guys," and I fall into that category. I HIGHLY doubt you are dying for customers from what I have seen.
