What was that handle I don't remember a Yates like that?
It was one of the few handles that would work with a Yates. It was a designed by CG for WCS. I forget the name of that one.
I got you….

Do you guys think the razor manufacturers are very careful with the base plates when they polish their razors? Makes me wonder especially the very high polished ones.
Just a thought on it and not wanting to hi jack this thread.

This is subjective topic and it varies on a razor how it’s been milled etc..

Look at the engraving. Is it as crisp as it was? As deep? Your representation of "preserved" is misguided, at best.

Certainly Not! Heaven forbid that a Flipper or Troll be called out for taking advantage/cheating others while ‘conducting business’!

The glaring difference between Ebay and DFS BST is, although discouraged, at DFS the Merchants of Chaos can, and do, talk members into sending Payment via Friends and Family. From there you have zero recourse and DFS seems to lay the blame entirely at the feet of the buyer. Not my sandbox, not my rules. Good thing too.

With all due respect Alan, That's not always the case since you're the one that did my Yates razor so please stop acting like an authority on the subject.

This solves Everything thanks Dave!! Understood

In my experience, and I know this is a big no in wet shaving, after I shave against the grain and miss a few hairs and I try another quick touch up without relathering with a polished razor I have noticed that a polished razor sticks to your skin and when I used a brushed or bead blasted finished razor it does not stick under the same conditions. But I have never tried it with the same razor both polished and matte so it could be related more with the design of the razor also I’m just sharing my experience in the matter not based on tests or scientific facts. I just wanted to make that clear.

Also this such a subjective matter because no one uses the same soap, blade or even the same razor the same way. For example someone that rides the cap has more surface area touching their skin than someone that rides the guard, in that case a polished razor may or may not make a difference.

I noticed that now are quick to change or modify the tool to fit their needs vs just adapting to it. I remember years ago reading about people that finally got their hands on a wolfman and were getting terrible shaves until they finally figured it out through trial an error. I never saw anyone taking a grinder to a base plate to shrink the blade gap, although if did that I would keep it to myself in shame lol

So how is it DFS’ fault that a bst buyer gets burned and has no recourse because he went friends and family despite multiple warnings by DFS not to do that? We take no pleasure in seeing people get burned but seriously??  On the other point as to why the seller skates?  I don’t think they should

Not all of the time. A few years back, I ordered three razors from an artisan in order to ship them internationally to my friends.
The artisan polished all of his razors; you can easily see the differences btw the baseplates:
