I agree with you, why did so many people mix and match these pieces? Leave them alone and “Just Shave!”

I agree about the polishing thing, I don’t know why everyone is so obsessed with polishing everything. I love my matte and satin finish razors. I like to keep everything original even though they are not really rare or anything especial.

Lately though more razors are being offered in a satin, matte and even a stonewash finish and are well received and I don’t buy the slickness thing either. Use less pressure and hydrate your soap better. ?

I don't get the obsession some have to have a high gloss finish either, I like all my hardware to be matte or just a machined finish... I have tested Timeless razors in the past in polished and matte and both shaved exactly the same. The only difference I did encounter was the polished razor showed every scratch on the razor from just handling the razor or from a towel wiping the razor down, drove my OCD flippin' crazy!!

Polished vs Matte - is really coming down to the coefficient of friction.

Polished made of the same material will glide easier, with a lower coefficient of friction.  Maybe the soaps, razor geometry, blade sharpness make this so nominal we can’t subjectively tell.

But it can be tested (using physics) and it will hold, even if ever so tiny and needing a large enough sample set.

All of this aside, whatever your preference is you should buy.  It’s your money, spend it how you want.  I am just happy to have such great choices today.

Thanks for the comments and the offer to look for the correct box.  That will not be necessary as I already have several of the cardboard ones, including the one the head and WCS Hollywood Palm handle came in.

Note I have been using the matte Lev 1 kit shown as my travel razor, might need to rethink that as I have a tendency to leave things in hotel rooms

I have no plans for getting rid of any of my CG items anytime soon.  I collected sixteen complete razors, eight extra handles, and three stands, mostly mostly from Brian, between 2018 and 2020.  Still looking for a Brass Gen 1 or 2, Lev 3 DC to complete the collection.  As collectors, we always regret the kit we did not buy.

I agree a hundred percent, when you purchase a polished razor they are held to a higher standard so they retain the tolerances required. I was more talking about just random people polishing say the cap on a Rockwell 6s and it’s just looks bad so why bother. On the BST some guy polished the head on a wolfman guerilla without even shaving with it and sold it. I remember a user here had a Yates razor polished by another member and he sold it because it changed the way it shaved too much. I personally won’t buy a razor that was polished afterwards by the customer, in my eyes the razor is ruined because it’s not what the razor maker is selling.

That said I don’t want to derail this thread I was just saying what I have noticed the past few years.

My 2 cents probably worth about 3 now with inflation but will buy you half then originally.

With razors I take the approach of is it my razor or is it a razor passing through. If I decide it is mine, I don't care about resale value or modifying it in anyway. If it isn't then I do as little as possible since someone else who may buy it is not buying me but the razor.

As far as pricing these newer razors that are now discontinued and no real secondary market yet. I'd at a minimum figure out the last year it was made and how much it sold then and start at that price plus inflation from then to now as a bottom price I'd take. Only way I'd take cost is if it was a deal with someone I personally knew and liked as a favor.
