Finally got around to using the Feather Pro's after 5 shaves with the Schick Proline. As good as the first couple of shaves with the Schick blade was the Feather was exactly the opposite. Absolutely one of the worst shaves I have had in a long time. The blade felt rough the entire time. I was wondering why some thought that the Hawk was aggressive and now I can see why it would appear that way because with the Feathers, to me it shaves almost like a different razor. Surprisingly, I was unable to get any kind of closeness on my neck area at all. I'm planning on giving the Feather another shot but so far it's not even close as far as which blade I prefer.

Had the same experience with Feather Pros in three different razors (General, Hawk, CJB kamisori). Horrible blades they are...

I found feather pro blades to be inconsistent.
No issues with Schick Proline.
Pro Super are ok, but aggressive.
Kai mild are very consistent at not working for me at all.

I guess I'm in the minority here. I found the Hawk V2 far too mild for me as a daily shaver. I tried both Feather Pro Super and Schick Proline blades in it. It would still take 4 passes with touch ups for CCS/DFS regardless of a steep/shallow angle.

I can't comment much on the Colonial General SS yet. I just purchased it and only have one shave on it so far due to participating in a shave challenge. The General got me closer in 3 passes with no touch ups.

This is putting me off from buying it. I am sure many would point out that it's still a great buying price, but what hit me is the price rise from $65 to $99 plus shipping within a few months !

Pretty much every thread I read people seemed to like the General more but as was already mentioned the General just took quite a price hike. I ended up going with the Andonized Blue General along with a pack of the Schick AC Proline and Feather AC Pro blades and got it all for less than the General.
Can you please comment on how you like the razor / blade combo ? Is the itch to buy the General gone with the hawk v2

So I quite like the Hawk with the Schick Proline blades and am glad I tried it with those blades first as the shaves with the Feather Pro's was god-awful. (If anyone wants to trade some Prolines for 19 feather Pro's hit me up via PM) Are any of the other AC blades comparable to the Schick Prolines?

The other options are either Feather:
Pro Super - they stick out a little more, it makes the razor much more aggressive.
Pro Guard - they are actually rather nice

Kai Mild - did not work for me at all in the hawk.
There are other Kai models.. I have not tried them.

Dorco - they do not fit in the Hawk (according to the product page) and it is not a big loss, I never cared from them.

The Feather Pro are not very consistent and you can pull a bum blade or two per pack.

The Schick ProLine are the best I have tried and inside the Hawk it is simply terrific - top notch shaving tool at a market busting price point.

I have the General (which is great) and the ATT SE1 (very nice indeed), they are much more expensive but not necessarily better - just different in subtle way.
I rotate between the 3 all the time.

This is so contrary to my experience. I got hold of some Schick Pro and I was so disappointed with the shave it gave me paired with the Hawk. Smooth, yes but even after several passes and many touchups I was nowhere as close shaven as the Feather Pro Guard or even Captain Kai Mild. Maybe I got a dud so I'll try again with another schick blade but first impression are not the wow I read from many that swear by them.

Don't get too wrapped about it, really. Each person has different beard, skin elasticity and other shaving habits.
What works for me doesn't have to work for you and vice versa.

At least I know the blade wasn't a dud cause I put it in a ATT SE1 and it performed flawlessly. Sharp, smooth and BBS. In the Hawk it's a poor performance and doesn't work for me at all.
