Just tried my first cold water shave, and I have to say it's not that bad. For me it works what's your thoughts?

I've tried cold water shaving a few times and do like it, especially on a hot day, or following a workout where I'm looking to cool down.

I expected the shave to be less comfortable, but found that it really isn't the case.  Most days, I still prefer the feel of warm lather, but won't hesitate to use cold water when it feels appropriate.

I still defend that the cold water shave will always give the best results (closest shave with least irritation). However, it isn't necessarily the most comfortable for some people and if we aren't enjoying our shaves then something is wrong.

I think it's one of the best kept secrets in our shaving movement. I prefer it so much, we made a video to get the word out!

My favorite soap is Mystic Water and I think it's well known that MW prefer cold water. And that has make me use cold (not ice cold) water with every soap.

I do either depending on the weather, and it has been hot and muggy lately so cold it has been... for a while now. I really like a pre rinse of mentholated witch hazel and then the cold water, cold lather, cold rinse.... Then post with one of my Fine aftershaves. Brrrrr! Love it!

I think you should not follow either way (cold or warm) like a religion.

In the winter I love a warm water shave with a heavy scented tobacco or oriental soap (like Malbolge from PAA).

In summer I love a cold water shave with a metholated soap or a soap that has mint or lemon/lime in it.

Also depends on shaving in the morning or evening and many more factors. I think everything you do to extremes or follow too religiously will just prevent you from broadening your horizon.

I just had my first cold water shave this morning. While the results were excellent, I am not sure I detected much, if any, diffetence between it and a warm water shave. What is nice about it is it gives me another option.

By the way, today's shave used a Merkur 37G slant razor, an Israeli Personna Red Pack blade, used for the 7th and last time, and Mickey Lee Soapworks La Belle du Sud Shaving Soap.

I have tried it a couple of times myself and I enjoy it, though, like Freddy, I don't detect any noticeable difference at the end of the shaving.  But, shaving with cold water and cold lather with Maggards Orange Menthol and finishing with some of Kramparts Finest Frostbite muahaha so awesome! I love cold water shaving! Nothing like the feeling of a cool razor gliding down your face effortlessly cutting hairs.  Cold water is also a must for me when using a menthol soap, using warm water that results is a cool lather just feels... unnatural.
