Chinese Mamba 70 clone

Italian barber has developed some nice razors on their own. But they have also just copied several other razors and sold them as their own. Not much different than the Chinese clones.

Is this true? I keep seeing people refer to the Lupo as a copy of the Wolfman WR1, but I don't see the resemblance at all. I think this is very different from Chinese design copy. The only difference in the case of the Chamba (seriously, I love his nickname) is the top cap, which to me is just lazy.

If copying the Wolfman wasn't the intent......why name it Lupo ?

Taking inspiration from or trying to improve upon something is a very different thing than copying and pasting.

The man himself has said he took razors that were popular and was able to produce them cheaper.

Taking inspiration from or trying to improve upon something is a very different thing than copying and pasting.

Here's a copy and paste for you. Direct from their site. Sounds like the intent was to copy with 2 minor changes that didn't involve geometry changes. Just rounding the edges and covering the blade tabs and no hand polishing.

The RazoRock Lupo safety razor has an interesting story. Many of our clients were frustrated because there is a very popular safety razor in the marketplace that is almost impossible to obtain. On top of that, these razors were selling for over $500 a pop! A good client then made an interesting proposal. He said to us, "If I send you one of these $500 razors, do you think you can make some under your RazoRock brand and sell them for a lot less than $500?

Being a Frankenrazor enthusiast from a while back, I immediately started swapping the Chamba parts last night and came up with the CGCOC .84 (Chamba Game Changer OC .84). The scalloped cap of the Chamba not being as precision fitting as the Mamba, actually fit the GC base plates better than the Mamba cap did (yes, I tried it a long time ago).




First shave was tonight and I was amazed at the results. While there was more blade feel than the Chamba, it was not as much as the GC OC .84. The cap being scalloped and more domed, allowed more angles to play around with and I actually ended up with a two pass, no touch up BBS. This razor will work it's way into my rotation very soon, just as the RR razors have.

BTW - to answer @Zhang Doe on the Aliexpress web site, there was a version with the regular cap, but it was unavailable at the time (and I would have gotten the scalloped cap anyway).
