It will be the final run as our way of trying to make things right. I am keeping a list of all of those who have expressed a desire to get a hold of a tub and will be contacting each person directly in order to inform him or her of the exact specifics as the arise. I apologize for this, but having never done anything like this, there was no way to know the demand. We were worried that we may have overshot the demand and were planning ways to drive sales if we were sitting on extra stock. Obviously we were off, but now we've learned an important lesson.

Just to chime in here, I believe I can speak for both of us when I say that we were truly honored/humbled/shocked at the response this release got. Not sure about Shawn's previous sales numbers, but this beat the pants off any release I've done to date.

When I suggested this collaboration to Shawn about a month ago, I wasn't thinking about a huge release - I was thinking about having some fun and seeing what happened. We decided on a number that sounded right to the both of us and made that amount. It was never our intention to make the "limited" in "limited edition" mean that people would be left out, just that it would only be available for a short time. Basically the McRib model. Trust me, as someone who was routinely picked last for team sports, I know that I don't like feeling left out of things and I have no intention of letting that happen here.

As Shawn said, the encore is a go.

Maybe Bon Vivant can be the next scent to be turned into a soap? The unspeakable and morally void things I would do for Bon Vivant soap....

Quote:Hey Shawn, that sounds great - whats the time required to make/cure/saponify the soap?  I'm curious because I'm heading up to the wilds of the Yukon Territories (yes I know its a province now) and I want to know if its something I have to watch for while I'm away or if its something I can look forward to when I get back.

I think the champs de lavande fragrance is great and Scott ought to just add it to his line up.  I have some of his bison tallow soap and while they perform great, he's got nothing that smells as great as CdL.  We had some people over for dinner a week ago and I had a bottle of Champs de Lavande aftershave sitting on the counter and one of the guests (the young fellow who's wedding we're going to in the Yukon) picked it up and gave it a sniff.  He was on his phone right away googling Chatillon Lux.

Keep on doing what you do Shawn, I for one appreciate your efforts and I believe I'm not alone in that sentimentSmile

Ouch, Marko, I'll remember that :p

Regarding the timeframe, if several moving pieces fall into place (all at the mercy of USPS) then the encore batch should be ready to go by the weekend. I make absolutely no promises about this, however, as there are several moving pieces in play.

I was actually thinking about reaching out, but I didn't want to seem pushy. Sounds great, Hector, I'll make sure to get in touch and keep you up to date. Hope your session did you well. I also would have wished that your physical therapist was as buxom and lovely mine was, but you're a happily married man, so I'll just keep that to myself Wink

Thanks, Marko , CdL was a fragrance that was a weird journey in figuring it out, so I'm glad people are digging it. I wanted to do something traditional but still me, so it was a weird struggle. I'll cover it all in my memoirs.

Also, the L&L Cuir et Epices is a pretty killer scent. One of my favorite Gratiot League Square pairings. Like peas and carrots.

I love that Bon Vivant is our cult classic. It's definitely not our most popular scent, but the Bon Vivant fans are the most hardcore ones. It's like Rush playing YYZ. I love it.

Scott, I'm sorry I didn't mean to offend.  I didn't say your scents were bad but we're talking about Chatillon Lux here!  There's a reason you're collaborating - Shawn's scents are incredible and your soap is incredible and together they're incredibler.  I have your Marshlands and the Cuir et Epice and a custom you did for another DFS member (kwsher) and another one (custom) coming - the ones I have are great and I expect the one on the way will be as well.  The performance of your soap is absolutely top tier and I would rate your soap on par with Barrister and Mann which I consider to be #1.

In any case I'm grateful that you are doing another run and I will patiently wait - I hope it doesn't sell out before I get to it againBig Grin

Absolutely, I do enjoy Cuir et Epices and I'll try it with GLS next time - I'm rocking GLS this morning to top off my first run with B&M Beaudelaire - not an obvious pairing but I like it.

I'll throw my hat into the Bon Vivant as a soap ring! I really like that one, not your standard aftershave.
