Probably going to to be in the early part of August. We're still fleshing out the details on the exact date. Of course, this is all dependent on the USPS delivering the fragrance intact. So...fingers crossed.

Champs de Lavande in a bison tallow shaving soap? Now there's a really slick idea...

So this is what you were hinting at in the SOTD thread!

Sounds good! Keep us posted!

I am proud to announce that L&L Grooming will be releasing a Champs de Lavande scented shaving soap in their luxurious bison tallow base on Monday, August 8

This limited edition collaboration between L&L Grooming and Chatillon Lux is the embodiment of a Midwestern prairie. After reading about the adventures of Henri Chatillon in The Oregon Trail, Herman Melville called Chatillon the most gallant man to ever kill a bison. And it is the bison tallow that helps give the L&L Grooming shaving soap its superior slickness and protection. While the lanolin, an ingredient that both L&L Grooming and Chatillon Lux hold in high esteem, contributes to a refreshingly nourishing post-shave feel, the soap’s noursing properties go even further to include the sea buckthorn, burdock root, white willow bark, and grape seed extracts featured in L&L Grooming’s aftershave formula.

When summertime blooms and the bison graze, the smell of these Midwestern fields fills their nostrils. As Chatillon and his Sioux companions cautiously approach under the cover of a nearby thicket, the smell of lavender and the undergrowth are beaten out by the sun, directly overhead. To capture the smell of that afternoon, Champs de Lavande uses two types of lavender, ylang ylang, eucalyptus, rosemary, bergamot and black pepper to create an elegantly simple scent.

Ingredients include Stearic Acid, Water, Potassium Hydroxide, Avocado Oil, Vegetable Glycerin, Bison Tallow, Mango Seed Butter, Castor Oil, Fragrance, Sodium Hydroxide, Lanolin, Bentonite Clay, Hippophae Rhamnoides (Sea Buckthorn) Fruit Extract, Salix Alba L. (White Willow) Bark Extract, Vitis Vinifera (Grape) Seed Extract, Phenoxyethanol, Caprylyl Glycol, Sorbic Acid

hawns this is just great news. I just ordered some of the L&L Grooming bison tallow soaps yesterday and I'm looking forward to trying out their formula and then to have it coming in Champs de Lavande scent, which is one of my favourite Chatillon Lux scents (aw, heck I love them all) really is something special.

I've eaten a fair amount of bison over the years so shaving with soap made from bison tallow only makes sense. A fellow I used to work with raised bison and I would regularly split a 1/4 of an animal with another friend. The meat is really quite delicious, lean and with a higher protein to weight ratio than beef so its pretty healthy too as far as red meat goesSmile We used to get the animal at the 18 month point (tender and tasty) but then the supply dried up because of the interest in the meat from them swanky restaurants out eastSad Oh well, they were willing to pay more and to buy up all the supply so thats good for the rancher I guess. For anyone out there interested in trying out some bison meat, bison burgers grilled over charcoal have an affinity for a little mesquite smoke, I'm getting hungry just thinking about it.

Now, back to shavingSmile

Funny you should say that, there's place called Bowood Farms here, and they opened up a cafe in the city that makes food grown entirely on the farm. They raise bison, and I recently discovered how great a bison burger is. Shouldn't be too surprised that the soap was so good, too.

And thanks! I wasn't sure if the world needed another lavender scent when I did CdL, so I've been really glad that it's been popular. Definitely a nice feeling to be noticed in a crowded space.

My former boss was a pilot and when I still lived out in SoCal he'd take us out to Catalina Island in his Cessna for buffalo burgers- love it! Congrats on the official announcement Shawn and Scott. Very much looking forward to this soap!

Champs de Lavande has complexity not found in most of the other lavenders I've tried. And theres no such thing as too much lavender ...or cowbell for that matter.

I purchased samples of Champs de Lavande, La Quatrième Ville, Yuzu/Rose/Patchouli and Fourth & Pineaftershaves last weekend.   Champs de Lavande is very, very good.  I will definitely buy a full bottle.  But La Quatrième Ville...OMG, this one is incredible.  I will probably end up buying the AS, toner and salve.

I need to buy samples of all the other aftershaves when they are available.

I'm really impressed by Chatillon Lux.   I can't believe they are relatively unknown in the other shaving forums.

There has been discussion on reddit but I don't frequent other forums - I don't think CL will remain a "secret" for long however.

LQV is awesome isn't it? I think you should save yourself the trouble and just buy every one of the Chatillon Lux scents in aftershave, toner and salve because you will love them all. I did and I have no regrets. Shawn is also a really decent person and a pleasure to deal with.
