The pre-order for Blackberry Blossom Bay is now open. The soap is made by L&L Grooming, while we will supply shaving products in our aftershaves, post-shave toners and post-shave salves. Here are the details on the scent:

Going back to the idea of if bay rum is for pirates, this is would be for the more refined seafarer, I started thinking about steamboats going down the Mississippi River through St. Louis. I could imagine a collection of gentlemen, from river destinations like Memphis, New Orleans, and Baton Rouge congregating on the deck as the boat docks in the old city where the Gateway Arch now stands. This is a scent that I could imagine them smelling like as they listen to the band play "Blackberry Blossom" as they sun goes down behind the Old Cathedral and Old Courthouse, before they were considered to be old.

Notes Include: bay leaf, neroli, blackberry, sandalwood, coriander, vanilla bean, tonka bean, benzoin and cinnamon

The pre-order will run through March 14 at midnight CST. Orders will ship as soon as the product is completed and the soap shipment is received from Georgia. A $5 discount is included in the price if you pre-order a set. Orders will be shipped when the product is complete and the postal service delivers the goods from Georgia. Thank you for your patience!

I've put in my order. This is going to be so good. For all of those who didn't get in on the Blackberry Blossom Bay for its original limited run last fall, now is your chance to get it in all of Shawn's great post shave products and the excellent L&L Grooming soap base. It doesn't get any better than that.

Curious for those who have tried this, or maybe Shawn himself....how close is the scent to what is traditionally called "bay rum"? The notes would suggest it is quite a bit sweeter than I would typically associate with BR. Thanks!!

Well I had to do it, ordered the toner and soap.  Cool Especially since L&L has quickly become a top 5 soap for me.

I don't know how quantifiable this is, but if it helps, I don't like bay rum. So I wouldn't make a bay-rum-type scent and would avoid something that smells traditionally bay. On the other hand, the orange blossom is bittersweet, so that helps balance things out a tad. Overall it is much sweeter and softer, however.

hawns , thank you so much. That definitely helps. I was asking from the perspective of not enjoying bay rum myself. Just not for me.

I will however give this one a shot. How does an order work if you preorder but also pick a regular item? Do they both ship together?

They will ship together, yes. In order to make sure I pull everything off without a hitch, I want to ensure that there are as few moving parts as possible. And since my webstore isn't sophisticated enough to keep track of partial shipments (working on upgrading it soon), that could get pretty hairy pretty quickly if Murphy's Law starts rearing its ugly head.

Red Tipped Cobra I'm a big fan of bay rum and it was me who badgered Shawn in to even considering doing something with bay in it. I did this not because I wanted just another bay rum except with all the great conditioning face feel of a Chatillon Lux product (which it does have by the way) but rather, because I wanted Shawn's creative genius unleashed in a bay sort of way and he did not disappoint. I can tell you its not like any bay rum you've ever smelled and its wonderful.
