Hey all, I've been cooking up a lot for this fall. Let's just say that I'll be good and ready for a vacation when it comes time to carve the turkey in November.

Deep breath...okay, here we go:

Launching at Perfumariē in SoHo, New York City

Beginning in September, you can experience select Chatillon Lux fragrances at Perfumarieē in SoHo, a really cool boutique (read more about it here: https://www.nytimes.com/2017/12/26/style...aring.html)

We will also have our full fragrance line available at their online store. Having gotten to know them over the past few months, they are super passionate about the art of fragrance and really a perfect match for us. We have a few promotions in the work, including an opportunity to try out Lamplight Penance Parfum Extrait before it is released.

South Grand Fall Festival: September 15

I'll have a booth at this festival right by my neighborhood in South St. Louis. Come on by if you're in the area!

Skin Salves: September 22

Unfortunately, there have been some hiccups when it comes to getting the packaging ready for this. On the upside, there is still stock of the post-shave salve available through retailers, especially Maggard Razors. Plus, this way you can bundle it with the La Forêt de Liguest release on the same day.

In case you missed it, here is the blog article about the development of the skin salve line: https://chatillonlux.com/blogs/news/saving-the-salves

It will be lighter and more spreadable than the old version, plus it is designed to be more of a multi-purpose product: post-shave balm, skin moisturizer, beard balm, and tattoo balm (in the unscented). The new design will also hold up better and resist separation when the postal carrier leaves the package in the burning hot sun all day. I tested it by leaving it in my car in the 100 degree heat all day. It melted but did not separate.

Additionally, the new line replaces coconut oil with higher quality, lighter and, most importantly, non-comedogenic oils

Fall/Winter Seasonal: La Forêt de Liguest: September 22

Due to popular demand, this will be around for the entire fall and winter season. It will be available in an aftershave, toner and eau de toilette from Chatillon Lux, as well as a bison-tallow soap from Declaration Grooming.

La Forêt de Liguest is a dark, rich scent that smells reminiscent of fougère based in the deep, deep forest, with notes of cypress and florals complementing the woods and undergrowth. It was inspired by the vision that the co-founder of Saint Louis, Pierre Laclede Liguest, had when he arrived at the fateful bend in the Mississippi River that would become Chatillon Lux’s muse. Walking through the forests that populated the rugged terrain, he could see a city taking shape amidst the rolling hills and flowing tributaries.

Lamplight Penance: October 13

This will be available as a permanent addition to the Parfums line as a Parfum Extrait, and there will be a limited edition aftershave and toner through Chatillon Lux, as well as a Icarus-base shaving soap from Declaration Grooming. And before you ask, yes we will be making significantly more than we did for the Santal Auster release now that we have a baseline for what demand for a product that uses significantly more exepensive materials (in this case, real ambergris, choya ral and a very high-quality neroli from France) looks like.

This scent is a snapshot of Henri Chatillon's later years. As he retired to his mansion with his new bride, Odile Delor Lux, he kept a portrait of his dearly departed first wife, daughter of an Oglala Lakota chief, hidden under the floorboards in the attic. This is the scent of a midnight rendezvous with forlorn nostalgia by the light of an oil-burning lamp, with the scent of berries and daffodils from the garden below wafting through the window.

Scent notes:
  • Berries, peaches, daffodils, orange blossoms
Lamp oil, burning wick, bourbon, red cedar
    Mahogany, leather, musk

It will be available to sample before it is released all month long at Perfumariē.

St. Louis' Fair Debonaire: October 21

This meetup/pop up type of event will be upgraded in our venue: we have rented out the top floor of the Schlafly Taproom Downtown (located conveniently next to many hotels and attractions if you do want to come in from out of town). After spending some time talking with Stirling Soap Company in how we could improve the event this year, we will be featuring both shaving/grooming artisans, as well as other local barbers and more.

But we still encourage the meetup aspect! In fact, that is why we are doing it at a wide-open venue with a bar right in the middle of it! It goes for four hours (2pm to 6pm), but you are definitely encouraged to hang out before or after the event. We just have to take down all our stuff at 6pm. The biggest difference in the meetup aspect, however, is that I will definitely encourage trading, but the PIF table is, well, off the table. Mainly because I ended up taking three boxes of unwated gear home last year and ended up just having to throw most of it away. For the sake of making the tear-down easier on me, I ask you to please take everything home with you when all is said and done Smile

To be announced: November 2-4

There is something super exciting that I will be announcing on social media/newsletter/here soon.

La Quatrième Ville: November 7

This will be an aftershave/toner from Chatillon Lux and bison-tallow soap from Declaration Grooming. Had to push it back from the original October 27 release date because things were just getting too hectic. It will be available through the end of the year.

At the advent of the 20th century, Saint Louis was known as the Fourth City. As they prepared to host the 1904 World's Fair, an explosion of arts, culture and commerce took place. Coincidentally, in what was to become Forest Park and Washington University in St. Louis, the Summer Olympics took place that year, as well.

The smell of La Quatrième Ville seeks to recapture that time of refined character and ambitiousness. A refined, masculine smell brings back the bustle of Forest Park during the World's Fair: the woods, attractions and waterfronts are reflected in the vetiver, cypress, incense, nagarmotha, violet leaf, benzoin, and cardamom.

Cyber Black Holiday Sale: November 25-26

Details TBA. Instead of going all weekend long, this will just be Sunday and Monday so I don't have to run off to get back home right after Thanksgiving dinner. You gotta sleep off that tryptophan!

is the event on October 21st going to be around that time each year? If so, I'll definitely plan on making a trip out in 2019....

Quite possibly. To be completely honest I haven't really thought about it too much but I do like the idea of October because it's still nice weather out and it's just a little bit before the holiday season begins.

Wishing you every success this year, Shawn, and am sorry I won't be there.  Perhaps next year. Smile

October is perfect weather, if you ask me! I absolutely despise summer events, especially if they're outside!

I haven't been to St. Louis before and I'd love to try the BBQ there so yeah..!

Andrew, when I was at the St. Louis meet-up last year, the weather on the day of the event was great but the rest of my stay... instant sweat as soon as I stepped out of my air conditioned hotel.  However, it would be worth it if just for the St. Louis BBQ.  That was one of the foods Shawn had on offer for those in attendance.  Seriously, the only things better than the barbecue were the great folks I met, including a bunch of DFS members, and Shawn himself who is a perfect host.  If Shawn does the meet-up in 2019 and you can make it, go! Happy2

Lamplight Penance sounds incredibly good. I'll have to seriously consider getting a set even though I've really been trying to limit my software purchases. You're making it hard to do Shawn!

Jeff, when I saw Shawn in late May, he gifted me with a small sample of the Lamplight Penance Parfum and I think it's fantastic.  I'm waiting for it to go up on the site and, of course, I'll have to get the aftershave, too.  hawnshas a way of emptying my wallet without ever getting anywhere near it. Shawn sent me a sample of Lamplight Penance with my last order. I carry it around in my bag everywhere I go. It’s more of a winter scent to my nose but, you know, Seattle summers... Awesome stuff. I’m definitely buying more.

That was Sugarfire Smokehouse! They are so good. The founder is a classically trained chef who studied in Paris and was mentored by Emeril Lagasse and decided to open a BBQ place to add to all of his high-end restaurants. Then Sugarfire blew up, they are opening in Indianapolis and Denver. It's a must try in my mind (and taste buds)!
