All of his razors are now "Sold Out".

For me Scalloped Gen1 LVL1 with Vertigo handle in Aluminium is a dream.
I asked for It, but unfortunatelly Brian was not available.
What a pity!!

I wanted to buy an SS razor, but quite frankly the options for handles just didn’t appeal to me. Not sure I’m crazy about the potential single offering that’s been posted either.  I may just have to be patient and watch the BST’s for an older version with a better handle.

unless you had a custom order slot come up Im not sure why you thought he would just make you a razor in a material he doesn't normally offer.

I thanked Brian for his kind reply, and it ended there.
I am not interested in less efficient materials.
I used a brass CG, with a gorgeous Vertigo handle.
But for my taste the most requested materials are a waste.

Best wishes to Brian and family, these are difficult times for most! He is one of best in this genre... Always answers emails, ships quickly, puts out a great product at a competitive price, he gives back to the community. Stay safe everyone!

What CG SS handle style appeals to you?

I like the one on the left.  It appears that Brian just wants to move on for one reason or another. You can't create art if your heart's not in it.  I'm grateful for the wonderful contribution he's made and wish him the best.

I couldn’t agree more; “You cannot CREATE artistic visions if your heart is NOT in it.”  I haven’t come right out and asked him if he’s burned out from the business aspect of Charcoal Goods.  If I had to draw and paint for anything other than personal passion I simply wouldn’t do it. I have much respect for the people who do run a business in these waters. 

The handle on the left is Brian’s original Bishop Handle, it’s such a clean and classy design. Like the others above, I favour the maze handle for its intricate pattern on its handle, I like its length as well. In copper, it’s stunning.  The hammered and magnum handle are brilliant with its dimpling covering the largest surface of the handles. For ME, the hammered is a toothpick so pass, but the magnum has fantastic heft to it and is also a fav of mine.

It will be interesting to see what Brian puts out in the future and where his business model goes after his late summer move.  Whatever he does, his contribution has been significant.

My CG wares are on lock down, I no longer let my friends “borrow” them and especially my family members. There’s always that possibility none of it could be replaced, my open combs and dual combs are really special base plates.

I got a nice email from Brian a couple of days ago. He and his wife are fine. They simply decided to move out-of-state (out of my state, which bums me out). Of course, things get thrown up in the air when relocating a manufacturing/production business. His wife has a career that is totally portable. They're just dealing with all the issues a family deals with when re-locating (e.g., "which house do we want?", "does it have a big enough shop to make razors?", "how far is it from her workplace?", etc.). Just guessing, but I suspect Brian will continue to be a major player in the razor business...

I wish Brian and his family all the best and hope, one day, his artisan products can come to market with all the beauty and efficiency we have been spoiled with over the years. All my best to him and his upcoming move as I and many fans here will be watching and following - we don't want to loose what has become one of the premier razor artisans in many years.
