CarbonShavingCo. New company & razor in the works....

I’m curious about this razor. I read the original plate had slightly more blade exposure while that’s been lessened and gap increased for the ++ plate.

I guess what I’m trying to figure out is which plate would be best for shaving every couple of days. The original plate seems like it can get the job done as well as the ++ plate, but ultimately which does it better?

Are you on the pass around list? If I told you something it might not be right so I'm going to hold my opinion on that one.
Others might be more help on that, as I wouldn't want to steer somebody in the wrong direction, for them.
It might depend on what kind of razors you prefer as far as efficiency. 
I think one reason I like the very efficient ones is because of my trouble shaving below the jawline.

This shave was 1 1/2 days of growth using a Perma Sharp blade 1st use. The soap was Kaizon  A & E. 
This shave was enjoyable with 2 passes and plenty of cleanup, especially below the ole jawbone where the whiskers are very tough and defiant. The against the grain went smoother than most razors, nice shaving.
   This looks to be about 92 grams in weight. 
Looking on the web site, I'm wondering if the handle sold on the titanium model would be available for the SS razor?
   This razor is alcoholed up and I'll ship it to rawfox1  today, also PM you rawfox1 with the tracking #.

Funny you should say that about the R2 handle in Ti with the SS head. After trying all combinations, this is the one I have settled on. The R2 handle in Ti is very nice indeed.

So the small waisted handle but in TI is an R2 or R2 in Titanium by name? Can it be bought with the SS head or alone?

R2 is the shape. The Ti one is usually only available with the Ti razor. If you contact Sean, he is very accommodating.

Huh, gotta be honest, I had kind of written off me getting a razor from Carbon, but these anecdotes (?, or actually confirmed, not sure) about the new + and ++ plates being higher gapped but less blade exposure make me interested, especially if Ti + set becomes available.

I'll be using my Carbon again this week. I may move past using Kai's or testing them, etc. I still want to use the 0.68 base plate to see how much difference there is but the ++ plate cut the beard really really nice. I found it to be more intuitive versus the standard. That isn't to speak badly about the standard base plate but damn, I really enjoy the geometry of this razor. It does my skin well and looking forward to seeing how the rest of these other blades start working for me. I will leave one last comment, I have been getting better results with less beard growth. For many years, my skin preferred about 5 days beard growth to shave comfortably. But now I am getting more confident that I could be getting closer to more frequent shaves with less days in between.

I posted in the Janus Toggle razor thread earlier today that I received perhaps one of he best shaves yet with it. An excellent BBS shave finish with great longevity. My face is still feeling great but, there are just the tinniest hints of stubble breaking through after nearly 17 hours into the shave from yesterday @4pm.  On my ride home and as I’m feeling my mug in the search for more whiskers to annihilate, I says to myself “Self, your shave was so good yesterday, you might as well hang up the razors for today. Not worth the effort.”  Hehehe, I chuckled.  And I wholeheartedly agreed with meself 100%. I gets home and my Misses gives me a smooch and a “how’s your day been, honey” and before I can even think of the words to say, she says “Oh, this was in the mail for you Dear. Isn’t that the Titanium thingamajiggie whatchamacallit razor you’ve been waiting for?” And she extends her hands with the package damn near under my nostrils. I step back as if I had seen Lucifer and the Fallen Angels confront me in my own kitchen, pitchforks and all. I open my mouth but no words are spoken nor heard.  All I can muster is a measly “ssshhhhh.”  My Misses brings me back from my stupor and unfounded disbelief as I see her moving towards me in an almost slow-motion type move, like I’m part of a  Matrix movie scene. Even her words sounded totally unrecognizable to me as she says “Iiiiiiiittt’sss ooookkaaaaay Deeeeaaarrr. Goooooooo, ennnjjooooyyy yooouurr neeewwww raaaazzzooorrrr.” I just half knowingly nodded, still in a confused haze of reality and trying to make sense of what had just occurred and plodded my way to the shave den. There I was, in front of my mirror with a new razor and it hit me like a ton of bricks. I CAN’T SHAVE!!!! NO WHISKERS!!!

I’m sitting on the throne willing my whiskers to grow.  If there was a DE Sword I’d impale myself onto it and scream TO THE SHAVE GODS! Anyways, I’d love to get a shave in but, I don’t think it’s happening tonight. Maybe tomorrow morning sadly. DAMN that Janus Toggle!!!

Here's the current pass around list for the Carbon razor. This pass around will include 1 handle, 1 top cap and 3 base plates: the original base plate plus 2 new base plates Carbon has designed.

Since there's only 1 razor being passed around, please try to get the razor sent out to the next person via priority mail after 7 days of usage so things move along at a decent pace.

**Please spray the complete razor down with alcohol or something similar before shipping it out to the next person and upon receiving it!**
