Hi all,

Here's the current pass around list for the Carbon razor. This pass around will include 1 handle, 1 top cap and 3 base plates: the original base plate plus 2 new base plates Carbon has designed.

Since there's only 1 razor being passed around, please try to get the razor sent out to the next person via priority mail after 7 days of usage so things move along at a decent pace.

**Please spray the complete razor down with alcohol or something similar before shipping it out to the next person and upon receiving it!**

Pass around list:

I'll be a buyer if/when the "-" head is released. I just don't do well with positive exposure razor heads at all. Every one of my favorite razors has neutral or minimally negative blade exposure.

After a week's use with the Carbon Shaving razor, I sent the razor off to the next participant a few days ago. I haven't had a chance, though, to sit down and write a review until now.

This is my second go around with the CS and my take on it hasn't changed that much. In a sentence, I'd say that I like the razor, but I don't feel a strong urge to buy one at the moment. I like the newer handle in this passaround - it felt more comfortable and natural in my hand than I remember from my first use. The size of the head is small and nimble and I got very nice shaves from all of my shaves. Overall, the fit and finish looked and felt quite nice.

I primarily wanted to go again in the passaround to check out the new + and ++ plates. After trying them all and having a few shaves where I'd use one plate on half of my face and another on the other half, I would say that there's not a significant difference in the results that I got. There were minor differences in the comfort/smoothness of the shave. I found the ++ to be a little less comfortable than the other two, but I bet that on a day-to-day basis, I bet that I wouldn't notice the difference between the original plate and the +. I'm sure I'd be happy with either of those plates.

But for whatever reason, this razor doesn't call out to me to buy it at the moment. I'd certainly be happy if it was in my collection, but it's probably not at the top of my list at the moment.

I sold my original Cx because my skin didn't get along with it. Unfortunately, the same can be said about the newer base plates. I had 3 shaves with the ++ and 1 with the +, all shaves resulted in a significant amount of weepers. It's weird because the shave felt great otherwise. No irritation or anything like that, but lots of weepers at the end. I don't know what it is about the Carbon but it simply doesn't agree with my skin. As others have mentioned, I couldn't really tell a significant difference between the base plates.

I really wanted to like it, since I think this razor is one of the prettiest razors out there and Sean is super nice. As someone who hates handles with narrow center portions, I have to say that I ended up liking the R2 much more than anticipated. It's a beautiful and comfortable handle. Miles ahead of the original "poodle" handle.

I'll definitely keep my eyes open for future offerings from this company.

Thanks to Sean and Andrew for the pass around.

I have been using the ++ baseplate for awhile now and find it to be as smooth as the original baseplate but a definite step up in efficiency.

I'm a ride the cap shaver. I'm guessing because of the reduced blade exposure the ++ baseplate feels smoother to me than the standard baseplate.

Thanks for the extra time to respond....been buried with finishing work. I thought it best to answer a few questions:

Thanks for the feedback on those who have tried so far...

JoelsShaves - Thanks for asking about why we chose a "10-32 thread". we modeled the Cx after a 1940 Gillette Tech which has the 10-32 threads. A lot of manufacturers still use the 10-32 threads, being a US company it also made sense to stay with the 10-32 thread. At one point we did think about a unique thread but recognizing some like to mix and match this didn't make sense. We questioned the m5x.08 but chose not to go with it...

Chaddy - No ETA for copper but I have had requests(including those who mentioned interest on this thread) and I do like the material. I think a small run would be cool but I will likely not make many...I never shared these photos on the forum, but with regards to patina these were some tests I did with different patina techniques on Mokume. Many, many options...big rabbit hole! Non are permanent... Funny but these are the same razor.

atxwatch - Regarding a "-" plate, we will likely have a small amount of units shortly(A few weeks). By far we have had more requests for a more efficient version hence the "+" and "++". But I agree I think there is a home for a "-"(we might not call it thatSmile). But this topic and some of the early feedback brings up interesting points about gap, exposure and angles....its definitely not just blade gap! Still don't want too many options and currently thinking about 3 ongoing only...

Selfish plug: we just finished up a very small run of the + and ++ plates in Ti. (Edit: We are not listing these as a stand alone item at this point, however if you are a prior Ti customer, ping us directly at info@carbonshaving.com and we will send you an invoice - $160 retail )

Thanks again for the feedback and comments...really appreciate it!

Sean

Question: When will these be posted to purchase on the CarbonShaving Co website, I don't see them right now?
