Shave 4
Another great shave with the Carbon Cx today. I decided to pop in a Kai blade to see how it compares with the GSB...I was not as impressed. Also, today I rode the top cap a little higher, similar to how I would use the Blackbird. Again, it simply didn't feel as good. But the burn from the Alum was mild today and only lasted about 5 seconds which is where I was hoping to get by the end of the 7 shaves.
Also, Asafiev review from yesterday is really spot on. He did a fantastic job describing not only the razor but the shave it is capable of giving. And I "casually" mentioned to my wonderful wife last night that there is a limited-time Father's Day promo on the Cx and she might just want to check it out (cough cough)

So far, the first users in the pass around have been impressed by this razor. I just checked the Carbon site, and the blade gap is listed at .68. With the price drop to $200, which is time dependent, I have a few questions in comparison to another razor in my inventory (costing approx. $50):
How does this razor compare to the Razorock Game Changer .68? Is there more blade feel? More audio feedback? Slightly more aggressive? Truly smoother than the GC?
Finally, is this razor worth an additional $150 over the GC?
Thanks for your feedback.

I had the GC 0.68 gap but sold it after a few shaves. From what I remember, it was a smooth shave but my main issue with the 0.68 was that it wasn't, at least for me, an efficient razor. But with the Carbon Cx, I am getting very close and efficient shaves with no loss in the comfort factor. In terms of audio feedback and aggression, I just don't remember the GC 0.68 well enough to comment on those questions.
Whether or not it's worth the extra $150...I think everyone would have to decide that for themselves.
Shave 5:
I decided to go back to the GSB (4th use) for today's shave. It was a three-pass shave with very little cleanup. The minimal cleanup was on purpose as I really felt like I had a good, non-irrating, shave up to that point. There were two areas (the same areas nearly every shave no matter what razor I use) that I did cleanup and I was very deliberate with the angle and pressure. This resulted in two very smooth areas and I am very happy to note that the Alum lasted maybe 3 seconds in each of those areas. No other areas were affected by the Alum.

Mr. Hoosier, thanks for the reports you've provided. Very helpful. It sounds like it exceeded your own goals.
I just have to assume if it is only a .68 gap but gets to BBS in 2.25 passes it must be fairly blade forward? Like a Blackbird? Maybe a touch less would be my guess.
Also, bottom line that handle, please. It sounds like you were a little skeptical at first but warmed to it during the week? Did I get that close? I must admit, that barbell handle is growing on me.

We wanted to jump in and address a point made by "Captain Jonny". We created a sense of urgency around our "20% Father's Day" promo that we didn't intend to for those currently on the pass around list. We still need to end the promo tomorrow at 11am CST but we will honor this offer after this date for all those currently on the pass around list.
If you are interested send us a PM and we will send you a unique promo code. No obligations, you can give it to some one else if you choose...
Thank you again for this feedback and dialogue.
Sincerely,
Carbon Shaving Co.

LOOT, the Cx is a blade-forward razor and I think you have a very good assumption in terms of the blade feel. The Cx has slightly less blade feel than the Blackbird. But in order to confirm this, I will gladly pop in a new GSB into the Cx and the Blackbird tomorrow morning and do a shave-off. But I will say, I'm assuming what I will find is that the Cx has less blade-feel than the Blackbird but it will very likely have better smoothness.
As for the handle, I do like it. But I thought it was a cool design when I first saw the razor. My only concern was handling the smooth part of the razor while shaving. But my normal routine includes a quick swipe of the alum block prior to picking up any razor. I've used the handle for nearly a week and a slippery handle hasn't been a problem.
Overall, I really like this razor. For me, it's smoother than the Blackbird but not as smooth as my Rockwell 6S (especially on base plate 4). It is more efficient than my 6S but not as efficient as the Blackbird.
