A couple of random thougts, bearing in mind that I have never tried any of the Carbon razors.
Positive blade exposure ls not a requirement to get a good shave. Some people find that neutral exppsure provides for very smooth shaving.
Could you make a DE razor without a safety bar at all? Sure. Of course. Some of the old timers used to grind off, for example, all the teeth from an Old Type but leave the two on the sides.
There was a long thread on another forum about getting rid of safety bars on other razlrs, like Techs or cheap clones of Techs. People took to calling these razors Devettes. There was even a European company that manufactured and sold one on the internet for a while, but i forgot what company it was that made it.
I think lt could be done in a way to provide a close and even a comfortable shave. Ideally the sides would be built as if a safety bar were going to exist, but then there wouldn't be one. This would support the blade at the edges. The other really important thing would be to have the blade clamped pretty close to its edge. The bottom topcap would protrude farther than the clamping part. If not, it would be a safety bar.
You could be the first company to ever make a stainless steel devette, which would be unique and pretty cool. I don't think it would even necessarily have to feel more aggressive than the new Stirling razors or the iKon Teck. Might even be as efficient but more comfortable. It would be safe for anybody who really knows how to shave. Obviously not a great choice for a beginner.
If you even want to think about it, I would be happy to help explain a little better what i am talking about.

If interested in this pass around, reply in this thread and tell us what state you reside in.
As with the usual DFS pass arounds, please keep the razor for a week and then pass it on to the next person on the list. Once you get time, share your thoughts on the razor, whether positive or negative. Please give the razor a quick bath in alcohol or something similar when you receive it and before sending it out.
**Please be courteous to Sean for sending us such an expensive razor kit to try and insure the package for $900 when shipping it to the next person on the list. This is mandatory. If you don't insure the package and we find out, you'll be barred from future pass arounds we put together on DFS.**

Thanks Andrew, but I do nothing special, I promise. For this week, I used SV Tundra Artica shave soap and before blooming the soap, I smear a dab of mango and kokum butter on top. I think it helps the lather "thickness" a bit and adds a bit of a softer post shave feel. This particular soap works well with a synthetic in my experience.
