First shave was phenomenal! This is my first exposure to a titanium razor. This thing is crazy light! Comparable to aluminum. Which makes me wonder, what is the real benefit to titanium with the added cost versus aluminum (besides being harder).
The presentation was nice. I appreciate the eco friendly packaging used by carbon. This is one of those razors closely resembling a piece of art. Highly polished, the two tone base plates, and the carbon fiber/titanium handle all combine to give it a very unique look.
I decided to use the carbon fiber handle on the first shave for the heck of it, but I honestly like the looks and feel of the all titanium handle better. Lathered up some DG shore and went at 2 days of growth. The razor handled it well. It took a few strokes to get used to the handle and light weight, but once acclimated it was a super smooth shaver. I started off with the original base plate and a new Astra SP to get a good starting point as I have never used one of their razors. There was a slight amount of blade feel, and good efficiency. I performed a 2 pass shave, WTG and a combo of XTG/ATG to get a smooth irritation free shave. The small head and positive exposure made it easy to get in all the nooks and crannies. My face stayed smooth for the majority of the day until I went to bed, around 12 hours. I'm going to skip a day and baseplate, and shave 2 days growth with the "++" plate tomorrow. If its too much, I'll drop back to the "+" plate.
