I just thought I'd share a little project I have started.

I bought a couple PAA Switchback 400 handles and two knot blanks/ferrules (a 24mm and a 26mm)... and two Nexus knots (a 24mm and a 26mm), and two Roswell Grey knots (a 24mm and a 26mm).

Then I got to thinking...
Moooore.

So, I bought more...
From AP Shave Co.
(and more blanks/ferrules from Phoenix, I'm waiting for delivery)

Once the blanks/ferrules arrive, I'll set the knots and take some pics.

Very cool! I have something similar going on with my Alpha Brush & Shaving Co. T-400, the three ferrules I have for it, and a number of other handles and knots. In fact, the area where I keep all of them is starting to resemble some kind of a small rodent farm, with all the knots sitting next to each other.

It can be fun testing different combinations and lofts, but I’ve been doing it for quite a while now, and need to start settling on which parts to combine and which parts to perhaps sell.

Have fun and enjoy the project, Nero!

All complete. Mostly successful, but a few casualties and lessons along the way.

These are the success ones.

Below, the one on the left got a little residual glue seep up...not sure why. Hard to see in the picture.
The one on the right was a major mess up on my part. I used the 26mm ferrule on a 24mm knot, so LOTS of glue seeped up.
Both are still totally usable but just not aesthetically on point.

Because of the error above-right, I can't set this 26mm knot since I don't have a 26mm ferrule...just the 24mm ferrule that should have gone with the faux horse hair knot above on the right.

Nero, if I remember (maybe I’m wrong), have you been using synthetics over natural hair brushes for a while? Looks like they turned out pretty well. I would like to find the knot Douglas put in the Green Ray brush. That’s my new favorite synthetic over the V1 Plisson synthetic.

Hi Zac, I have the Green Ray and it is a wonderful brush.
Go to AP Shave Co. and see if he has any "Faux Horse" synthetic ones... Those are them.
Unfortunately I messed up the bulb above.
If you don't find the right size/shape in stock, I'm pretty sure the Cashmere knots use the same hair but just a blonde color instead of the brown.
Good luck!

PS - yes... I only use synthetic.
My best ever badger can't tie the shoes of any of my synthetic brushes.
