Gilette 7 o'clock super stainless
Sharpness= 4..I experienced a lot of pulling with this blade mostly around the chin but also some on the cheeks.
Smoothness=6..I should have discarded the blade after the first stroke, because for some reason this blade just didn't agree with me. I never felt comfortable with this one, and it felt very rough to me. I acquired one weeper and some painless red bumps on my neck that have yet to subside. This simply isn't the blade for me.

**these are simply my personal opinions of the blades I am using during my "blade expedition". Blades are the most ymmv product in the wet shaving world. A blade that I loathe could be someone else's favorite. So take everything with a grain of salt. Thanks again for joining in on this journey.

I had the same experience with the Greens, just tugged and pulled with each stroke. Love the Blacks and Yellows, but the greens were aweful for me.

I didn't like them the first time I tried them, but later on, in a different razor, I found them to work just fine.

I'm finding that a lot. First time I used Derby's, they were terrible. Got a sample pack with a new razor and worked just fine.

I won't totally count them out based on one experience. I'll try to revisit it later. I did that with the Astra sp and I found I liked it much better later.

The blade for today was the Voshkod.

Sharpness=8. I found this blade to be very sharp. It made quick work of all my stubble and had little trouble around the chin. I really enjoyed the sharpness.

Smoothness=10. I really enjoyed using the Voshkod. It was sharp but I felt very confident with it the entire shave. I was able to execute 2 passes 1 wtg 1 xtg without any weepers, bumps, or irritation. Throughout the shave o felt as though I could do anything with it and not suffer any bad consequences. It glided very well in all areas of my face. Truly a great blade!

I am able to achieve a good shave without irritation. However if i let my facial hair grow more than one day I experience tugging. My friend gave me a 5 pack of Astras which I tried once and was left with a very red bumpy neck. I am looking for some advice on blades that are perhaps sharper than derby yet still very smooth. Any advice would be appreciated.

Try the Gillette Silver Blues. They offer an excellent and efficient shave without being too sharp.

Hi. The blade for me for past 3 months is the Polsilver blade. I find these very sharp(close to a feather) yet smooth on my face. Before I was using feather blades which are great but as smooth as the Polsilver.

Pol Silver

Sharpness=9...The sharpest blade I have used to date, and my chin is the smoothest it has been.

Smoothness=8...I executed a 2 pass shave wtg/xtg as always. I did not have any weepers or irritation. My confidence level was high, but I could tell that I need be careful and use proper technique with this one.

The pol silver is a grade A blade in my book. I believe for daily shave purposes my favorite is still the 7 o clock sharp edge as of now, due to the supreme amount of confidence I have in it. The pol silver would work nicely when I wanted it just a bit closer.

Hey everyone, busy day today, but I wanted to throw up my thoughts on the personna Reds

Personna Red

Sharpness 8= this blade for me was almost the perfect level of sharpness. Sharp enough to easily cut through all of my hair, but not so sharp to where I'm not aware whether or not it's about to cut me.

Smoothness 8. I was able to achieve a nice close shave with this blade. There was some slight irritation on the neck, but nothing significant. I felt fairly confident with it, but had to be alert as to not cause damage.

Overall, the personna red is a solid all around blade, but not a stand out for me.

The Feather

Sharpness= 10 (of course). On my face I couldn't noticeably tell how insanely sharp it is but the degree of closeness after my routine 2 pass speaks volumes.

Smoothness= 8. I was afraid I would be walking around with a red neck today because my neck is extremely sensitive, but that is not the case. For how sharp it is, the feather is fairly smooth and somewhat confidence inspiring, mind you I was a little more focused and in tune with my shave this morning because of my first experience with the feather. There is a very apparent threat of damage there, but with caution and care I was able to achieve my closest shave ever without irritation.

I now get the hype behind the feather blade, however, I do not think it is a daily blade for me.  I do intend to purchase a small supply for those special occasions when only BBS will do.
