If you have tried both razors, what are your thoughts?

The Sabre has a choice of two baseplates; I own the more aggressive baseplate. It shaves quite well and uses inexpensive GEM blades that last several shaves. The OneBlade uses an excellent Feather blade, but it is expensive and last “maybe” two shaves at best. The original OneBlade yields itself to using a modified GEM blade, successive versions did not, owed to the manufacturer of the OneBlade changing the design to prevent using a GEM blade. The OneBlade shaves okay, but for me the Sabre shaves closer and yields a better shave.

I tried to like the OneBlade so much that I bought it on two different occasions and returned it both times. I love the quality of the razor and the aesthetics are nice but I couldn’t get a great shave with it.

The Sabre Level 2 is an AMAZING shaving instrument!

I like milder razors and took to the oneblade quickly. The Sabre was also smooth but it's weight was a problem for me.

Did you try both baseplates or just the more aggressive one? When you say the Sabre yields a better shave what are you referring to? Smoothness, lack of nicks??

Which plate did you try on the Sabre? Other than the weight did you have any issues?

Thanks for the responses. I own the one blade and thinking about the sabre. I kind of have a love hate relationship with the one blade. I will use it for a while and really like it, Then the more I use it the more I notice it doesn't do a good job on my problem areas, and I stop using it. I get dissatisfied with my double edge razors and go back to the one blade. Repeat cycle.

I only purchased the Sabre with the more aggressive plate as I had read reviews and comments from those who owned the setup and who I know I share similar shaving tastes in hardware. The OneBlade is just a bit too mild and to achieve the shave I want. When shaving with my OneBlade I have to use pressure that I shouldn’t need to get my desired shave results.

I own and enjoy vintage SE razors, but currently the Sabre is best among the available modern SE razors accepting a GEM style blade. The Sabre presently doesn’t have any available competition, that I know of, in this category.

I have had both Sabre plates and both provide a very nice shave. I prefer the Level 2 for its slight increase in efficiency while still being very smooth.

The One Blade was just weird to me. I didn’t like the spring pivot head and I just didn’t get great shaves from it no matter how much I wanted to like it! I started out with the Hybrid and then tried the stainless version and returned both.

Some people LOVE the One Blade so I suggest you try it out for yourself.

Sabre L1’s shave was inspired by the OneBlade so it’s an apt comparison. These are both cartridge-like - easy to use, decidedly mild, smooth. L2 takes efficiency up a notch.

Sorry Shane, but the Sabre is head and shoulders above the One Blade! Plus it doesn’t rattle!

The One Blade does look cool though.
