It's sharp and it cuts. I like it...

Polishing really brings out the family resemblance to the Blackbird, too, in an understated way.

My pics don’t do this razor any justice at all. When you have it in your hands, that’s when you can really appreciate the subtle beauty of the Vector. The polish work is top notch and just very well done. It’s a beauty, it’s all I can say....

Gus, you’re going to make me wish I’d sprung for polish instead! Angry Big Grin

Two words:
Ohhhh myyyyyy!

More words:
After helping my daughter with a school project, I had very little time left to shave and shower for birthday dinner with the future missus. A wiser man would have just set the Vector aside. I am not that man. The maiden voyage was a high speed shave with just a quick wash, some Aveeno goo, and a new Proline.

Nimble it is, and very smooth! I got a few weepers ATG, but less than I deserved, and no nicks. Can’t wait to try it with better prep, lather, and technique!

The Viper pic that Gus posted kept coming to mind ....

Took my new Polished Vector out for a test drive. First impression is this is a sleek beautifully polished shiny new sports car. Threw a proline in, lathered with some Nuavia Blue and it was a mobile, maneuverable whisker destroyer. 3 pass smooth and nimble BBS. I will say it shaves no different than the machined version, just as sweet as before but with the stand this is one of the sharpest looking razors in my collection and gives one hell of a shave.

It seems like polishing would have to increase blade exposure slightly ....

Technically it does. But we reduce that material loss as much as possible to keep the shave consistent. With the Vector you won’t notice a difference.

Shane, have you considered making an open-comb baseplate? I’m thinking of something analogous to the Blackbird OC approach, i.e. no change to the geometry other than cutting teeth instead of slots.

It's a possibility which is why there's an extra slot in the foam packaging, but I haven't decided.

I received a Vector yesterday and had my first shave with it today - SO impressed with this razor - it's the machined version. Just a wonderful first shave, with the one drawback that the corners of the cap seem to cut into the skin on my neck - not enough to draw blood, but enough to be noticeable ... I now see others have had this happen and have been able to replace the sharp-cornered cap with a rounded-corner version - Shane Blackland Razors, I wonder if you're still willing to swap caps? Happy to send you this one first if that might be helpful. I understand if that's not possible.
I really like the maneuverability of the Vector and the handle - I did get a great shave except for those cap corners.
Thanks!
