I just happened to be on the Blackland site since there was mention of a new SE coming up shortly.  While the info is not yet posted on the website, I noted that the DART was still in stock.

I want to thank Blackland for putting out a great product and having enough for all those who wanted one, to have it at launch.  I get the anxiety of being stuck with a lot of product if it doesn’t sell out right off the bat, but it buys a tonne of good will when everyone can participate in the discussion rather than an elite few with ties to the artisan.   While the “small batch” Artisan may be a reality in a small number of cases, It has become the tool of choice to drive up demand.  So..hopefully the SE will be as available as the DART.

So to sum up;

Thanks for having lots of DARTs,
The DART is an excellent tool,
Make enough SEs!

Now I’m done!

Thank you! I really appreciate that. My goal is to have our razors readily available. It doesn’t always work out that way, but that is the target. The SE will be a lower production razor than the Dart, but with the higher price point it should remain available. Upon release I usually roll out a smaller initial batch as production continues. So if that batch sells out, a resupply won’t be far behind.

Edit: There won’t be a page about the new SE until a production version is completed and everything is finalized.

Ruds review was pretty decent but I had a completely different experience than he did. While i prefer razors on the aggressive side, the Dart for me was surprisingly smooth with the blades that i had tested it with. As with all razors, YMMV and I recommend trying it out even if you've read/watched all of the reviews. Worst case, you can always send it back within 30 days. Best case, you try it out with different blade combinations and find a razor that you'll own and use for life.

The Dart is extremely efficient and provided me with a lovely BBS shave when I finally found the right blade to pair it with (GSB for me). If I'm not careful, I can get some irritation but that's probably mostly m technique.

Just had a chance to try my Dart for the first time and I am mightily impressed with its performance. My experience is rather different from Rud's. The razor is not too aggressive (just the right amount) and exceptionally efficient, so I could comfortably use it as a daily driver. By now I have tried a few razors and my first impression have not fail me yet. As some of you might know my favorite razors are Blackbirds first generation and the Dart is a wonderful addition to the flock. Will certainly be looking forward to the polished version.

Shane you are the Master!

Cool. What blade are you using with it? I’ve been using GSB with mine and it’s been great.

Gillette Nacet . I tried many and this one works best in all my razors . GSB and Astra Platinum would be my second and third choices

Had a couple of more shaves with the Dart. Same Nacet blade. Same experience - outstanding shave, moderate aggressiveness, supreme efficiency, little to no irritation. Face feel and feedback remind those provided by my Paradigm Ti I but with lower aggressiveness.

Will certainly buy it’s polished version. Or black oxide, should Shane decide to release some...

Glad to hear it! I’ll hopefully have some polished Darts ready in September.
