I have to say that the BB is in my top 5 razors, I say this because I have more experience with other razors at the top of my list, but over the past few months of ownership I'd say it might be #1. It has a personality it looks purpose built, I have the black oxide so it looks a little rough, it also demands that you pay attention and respect it with your technique. But the shaves I get with this razor amaze me, I have trouble spots of old scar tissue and very few razors knock it down without really focusing on the area, quite often this produces irritation, but the BB gets this area and even though I don't feel that I'm getting as close a shave somehow 3 passes later it's BBS.

I tried switching from a Personna Red to an Astra SP. For me, the Astra is a comfort/lazy day blade, but it’s not very efficient. It usually needs so much touchup that any comfort/ease advantage is cancelled out. In the BB though, it is quite efficient.

After reading how much I enjoyed my first 7 days with the BB SB, a couple of members reached out offering the OC and 70 mm versions to try. Thank you for that! The generosity of this community continues to amaze me.

I did take up one member on his offer, and he was kind enough to send me the 70 mm original with the case!

I'll skip the details of the shave, since it was just as awesome as my first 8 with the current production model. The most obvious difference is the weight.

The current production BB SB is approximately 98 g, while the older 70 mm version is about 88 g. Not a massive amount, but it's most notable for me ATG and in tight spaces around the mouth and mustache area.

For me, the level of closeness and comfort of the BB is hard to beat. And I'm more impressed by all the great people in wet shaving.

Happy shaves.

I got to say:
If a point in time comes where I need to flee running because a zombie apocalyptic time hits the fan and find myself deciding which razor to take with me.
I would say with certain that it will be my Blackbird without any doubt.
In my opinion this razor is the one that delivers an “overall” shaving satisfaction which includes:
Aggressiveness, smoothness, efficiency, maneuverability and a hell of satisfaction.
Just my two cents. [Image: 9d4ddb198e407494698a3666cc0584ee.jpg]

It's still early for me with the BB, but I'm inclined to agree. I forgot to post my gratuitous pic earlier, so here's that:

The Blackbird is a hell of a razor! The comfort and closeness of the shave is one of the very best there is. Should be talked about and recommended much more often, I’m assuming since it’s been out for awhile it’s lost the hype but imo it’s one of the few razors that lives up to it, it looks great, the polish is outstanding and the shave is near perfect, it could be my only razor. With the polish version I’ve never had a weeper or a bad shave! Close and comfortable. Doesn’t seem like Shane has a hard time selling them though, Polished versions flies off the shelves when in stock and they really should sell that well. Still one of the best looking razors on the market too.

It was a part of the very first offerings from Blackland. I was offered the razor and it's case by someone who was reducing their den, and he wanted it to go to someone who enjoyed the BB a lot.

In short, pure dumb luck and the generosity of others.
