So true. It's got to be polished, IMO. I just did a side-by-side of polished vs black at my brother's request. He picked up the black on BST after having driven my polished version. There is a good deal of difference in razor feel. The coefficient of friction on the polished is greatly reduced. They both shave the same but the polished is smoother.

I like the shave from my polished BB just as much as a polished Wolfman WR1 .74 SB. I like the sound of the Blackbird better than anything I've used. She sings.

I also agree with the 101 comments. I have both handle lengths and much prefer the 101.

I just got my SB in today, and can't wait to try it out tomorrow. I love the OC, so I imagine I'll love the SB.

+1 I noticed the difference between the Polished and the other two finishes, immediately upon using them.

The polished is better razor. However the black oxide is a better teacher of technique.

I became a better shaver when I realized the majority of the 'drag' with the oxide is due to using the wrong angle and secondary using to much pressure.

Well, I haven’t tried the polished version, but I feel like the so-called “drag” that some users talk about can be a positive part of the Blackbird experience. Here’s what I mean:
• If I want a really close shave, I feel like the “drag” is actually almost like suction — it makes the razor stick to the skin and helps it cut really close.
• If I don’t need a super close shave, I ease the little pressure that I would have used to create the drag, and the drag is gone.

(Also, I feel like the drag depends on the angle: a shallow angle allows more of the top cap to rest against the skin and create drag, a steep angle keeps the top cap off the skin and eliminates the drag. Just my thoughts. Your drag may vary.)

Let us know how you like it!

So I shaved with the SB today. It's smooth just like the OC. I will need to do a comparison for a few days. I will try to do one side of my face with the SB and the other with the OC and then swap sides for a few days. Also, maybe do a few days growth comparison too. I did however do a two pass, which I haven't done with the OC yet. I just did it out of curiosity. I did WTG and XTG, and wow there is just about nothing left to shave.
