I’d say it looks more like the handle on your SB razor (on the left), although, candidly, to me the Blackland handle doesn’t look exactly like either one of your originals. Maybe it’s the polish vs the matte finish....though the knurling is definitely different.

We're using the same 92mm handle on both razors. Off the top of my head, I forget which generation that handle comes from. I'll check later.

Our handle has a few changes over the original. The handle is fully polished while the original was matte. The original knurling was laid directly on the handle's primary diameter. This isn't how you want to do knurling as the it leaves the ends of the knurling looking unfinished. In my opinion this is the weakest part of the original Tradere. Usually you want to have the knurling on a section of larger diameter so you can take the knurling all the way to the edge and create a clean end. That's what we did with the Tradere handle and it really tidies things up. The knurling itself is also slightly different than the original, though the difference is subtle.

Shane, can you tell us how the OC compares with the OC Blackbird?

The Tradere OC is in the same general ballpark of aggressiveness as the Blackbird OC, but the shave is quite different. Both are fairly blade-forward and emphasize efficiency. The difference is that the Blackbird has that unique Blackbird geometry and angle while the Tradere feels more like an extremely good conventional razor. I think a lot of users will find adjusting to the Tradere OC to be pretty straightforward as the geometry is familiar. So they both provide that mid-aggressive efficient shave, but they do so with different approaches.

Well now, a bit of a pickle you've put me in.  It seems now I really want both base plates but can only buy one razor.  I have a Vector and a Timeless 68.  Love them.  I have a couple of Blackbirds and a Timeless 95. Love them more. The Blackbirds require focus though.  That's not a bad thing.

If the SB is  similar in efficiency to the Timeless 68, then the OC would be an easier choice to make.  I'm using this comparison only because you had mentioned the Timeless razors earlier so I thought you might have experience with them.

SB is comparable to the 68 and the OC is comparable to the 95. I haven’t used a Timeless in a while so I can’t comment on exactly how close they are, but those would definitely be the competitors.

the slightly recessed smooth bands on the handle is a great touch imo. it's somewhat subtle but it makes a big difference visually. it's reminiscent of the british rocket hd, which isn't a bad thing at all.

Will we be able to order both base plates with our one razor or is it a 1 plate per razor kind of setup?

I will 100% be ordering at least the OC, wouldn't mind getting the SB plate with it...

That could happen in the future. This run is all about keeping things simple while we determine actual demand. Multiple base plates really complicates things like serial numbers, order quantities, royalties, etc.
Sounds like not for now on both base plates.
