Blackbird Ti polished

Would love to hear what Blackland Razors  has to say about the SS and Ti stands both weighing 68grams.

Was considering a purchase from them in the future but this has really put me off.

Interesting. This just means that the user got two titanium stands. Stainless weighs ~115g.

So maybe that's what neither of the two fit the handle properly ? Asking for a friend.

Interesting discussion. I was always afraid of the blade feel and potential aggressiveness of the Blackbird so I waded in cautiously with a Black Friday sale purchase of a machine finished SS Blackbird SB and stand. What I found is that this is the razor I have used 92 times in the last 96 days (Blackland Tradere for the other 4 because I wanted to make sure it had been supplanted by the Blackbird). There is no point in extolling the virtues of a Blackbird in this thread because it would likely be preaching to the choir. My observations are that a machined finish is easier to maintain and doesn’t require daily microfiber cloth wipe down; fits in the stand with no wobble and meets my needs and will likely keep me from the titanium model but should the titanium tempt me it will be unpolished. I also weighed my stand and it was 116 grams. I attribute the weight difference to either it being unpolished or to my $15 gram scale not being as precise as some.

I would say that razor has been plated and someone over on Reddit is playing with everyone!!The only thing bead blasting really does is dull the finish, depending on the type of media you use, or give is a satin type finish. I believe some platers use bead blasting or tumbling to prep and clean for plating.

The razor sold for $300.  I would probably have bought it, had I gotten to it in time.  It's possible it was a black Ti plating job on a SS razor.  But it's also possible that the dark hue is due to lighting.  Many years ago I owned an Eterna-Matic wrist watch with a band made of titanium and gold, and the titanium was a dark matte.  So I don't know, but I have seen dark matte titanium that wasn't plated.
