I only use my CG LVL2s when I need a very mild shave now. Long day need to autopilot kind of thing.

The Blackbird is what I use 99% of the time. Best balance of efficient and feel IMO. Not as efficient as some of my real aggro ones (CGLVL3, Timless 95 OC) but enough.

I only shave 2 or 3 times a week most of the time.

It is not perfect; ATG there is blade chatter. But I dont shave ATG, so for me this is the single best razor at ANY price, and that includes some "unobtanium" stuff I own like wolfman/raw shaving/paradigm 17-4

If you want the Blackbird to be as efficient as your other more efficient razors, trying adding a shim. It works, beautifully. That is what I use in all of my Blackbirds and it is pretty much perfect. Smile

It's current in my rotation right now. What a terrific shaver. After 3 passes, I could skip a day if I wanted, but I don't. I can and do use it daily. I find I have to focus when using it but the reward makes it all worth the effort. It's also fun to use. I have to remember to use this one more often.

For me, the Blackbird is so efficient that I’ve never even considered shimming it. In my experience, it is more efficient (yet less aggressive) than, say, the iKon ShaveCraft 104 Tech. Having read this, though, I guess I’ll have to shim it sometime… Smile

Whenever I go to shave, I assume there’s someone else on the planet shaving, so I say “I’m gonna go shave, too.”

The thread has called to me

CG SS L2
BB Polished

Both are great, both are a bit different. Both are smooth at cutting the hairs. BB is more efficient and close but the razor head glides across the face less than other razors. CG glides across the face wonderfully, but is less efficient / less close than the BB. I like both tough to say which one i like best but the BB might have the leading edge by the hair on my chin  Cool

The CG Lv3 is equal, if not more efficient than the BB.

Hi Jimmy,
I had the CG SS L3 and found it to be too much for me. Sold it. I would say that the BB might be at CG 2.5 level or something like that.

I love my Blackbird SB polished. If there is ever a hall of fame for razors, this one is guaranteed to be in it. Shane hit a grand slam with the design of it.

Good luck if you decide to do it. Smile
