Actually you can open a thread to compare the different knots with your grading method.
Oumo and Maseto are very good knots, too.

Yes sir!  Feel free to compare any knots you have!  That would be nice.

I was thinking you gonna compare, I am gonna read. Lol! Big Grin

Haha!!

Nice comparison. The HT2 is very dense and has alot of backbone. Your marks are very high on the gel tips and face feel for the HT2. I found it average, more like a B7 or B8 but obviously much more dense, and not very gelled. Overall doesn't compare to the HT1. Obviously YMMV

You’ll get brushes that run the gamut from extremely gel tipped to barely gel tipped in the same batch of hair. A good example of this is B5. I don’t imagine it’s possible for an entire batch of hair to be treated uniformly. I currently own three HT1s, but have owned a total of five different HT1s (two were traded for others). Four of the five were moderately gel tipped, but I’d say they were pretty much consistent with one another. My 25mm Eland HT1, however, is massively gel tipped. I have another brush from the same drop that has an average amount of gel tips for that batch of hair. Go figure. As far as gel tip/hair consistency goes, B6 is probably the best example I can think of. Some can be more gel tipped than others, but the vast majority are pretty similar to each other.

I’m curious to hear your thoughts on Varlet versus the others. To me, both BE and Mozingo knots are sort of spawned from Declaration, but both are more dense than DG and don’t have that twist in them. As you stated, they seem more similar to one another than they are to Declaration. Varlets are a totally different animal (Aldo started tying a couple years before Scott did, so no influence there), so it’s going to be an apples to oranges comparison, particularly with the non-XD Varlet knot.  I haven’t tried a Rhodium yet, so I’m curious to hear your thoughts on it.

You hit a very valid point!  every single brush is pretty much a "SUB KNOT" within each knot batch.   You can be lucky sometimes and get one with your preferred style (no gel, mid gel or heavy gel, soft tips, scrubby tips, etc).  Agree, the Mozingo and BE are very similar,  in comparison, my declaration B9As are like 35% smaller (although all are 28mm) and the knot density seems to be like 15-20% less.

As I have discovered I really love the super dense, low lofted knot, I will go XD 29mm with Varlet (I find the B9a to be "floppy" compared to ZT3 and HT2), received an email from Aldo saying my varlet is set for October.      With rhodium im going completely blind (I don't know if they run dense, or anything at all about them just that they are really good)

I've learned that I hate very gelly knots and don't like too much backbone either.

Also, never get a paladin! Mine is gel to the exteme. I dont like it too much since its too gelly.

Maybe you should consider another hair batch of Paladin? I honestly believe Paladin produce some of the best handles on the market. I have quite a few older Paladins and I love them! Haven’t tried the newer batches but I have hear some people love them.

Mine works just fine, just not a 10/10 favorite.  My comment was to more to him, since he said he hates gelly tips and my paladin is super gelly.  I like gelly tips in many cases (as in the HT2)  maybe a fan-shaped Paladin I would love more than the semi-bulb shape.
