What's everyone rocking in the summer? I'm a skin fade guy. On the topic of skin fades does anybody know if its true this haircut has its roots in the hip hop communities of the 80s? I always thought it was a military haircut.

I bought a hair trimmer but I'm afraid to open the box I wouldn't know what to do. I'm putting off dealing with it and my hair until I really have to.
I'm with you, Mo. My hair looks like shite, but it would look worse if I took my electronic beard trimmer to it...

Had to google 'skin fade' as I have been shaving my head for the past 11 years and, before that, using a trimmer for 14 years. I can't even remember the last time I got a haircut.

I got a buzz cut 15 years ago in solidarity with my buddy who lost his hair due to chemo. Wore it for a long time, but my wife complained ("You have beautiful, thick hair--why cut it all off?"). So then I went about five years without a haircut, but my wife (and my dad) complained ("Why do you want to look like an old hippie?"--answer, because I am). Last year, I decided the hassle of long hair wasn't worth the statement, so now I get fancy 50-dollar haircuts, and use pomade.
