Best Fougere

I think it's time to resurrect this thread, since there probably are some new (or reformulated) fougere aftershaves. But for now I will stick with Doc47's choices of Houbigant Fougere Royale and Penhaligon's English Fern.

My favorite fougeres are (in this order) Barrister and Mann Beaudelaire, Catie's Bubbles Blugere, and Barrister and Mann Fougere Gothique. Saponificio Varesino Felce Aromatica also smells amazing, but I've never actually used it, only huffed it at Maggard.

My other question is: Which fougere aftershave is the closest match to the MdC Fougere soap scent profile?

Shameless plug. I really dig our Casino Royale as the old school (think Houbigant Fougere Royale), but then Quartet as an aromatic fougere might be my personal favorite. I love all my kids.

Love the scent of Mousse Iluminee. I find House of Mammoth Alive can pair well with that scent (in aftershave or soap form), although I don't think I would label the Alive scent as a Fougere.

I believe that the Houbigant Fougere Royale was the original Fougere. 
Will at Barrister and Mann is the king of Fougere’s.  Will doesn’t like to make dupes, so all of his scents are originally created by himself.
All of Will’s offerings are distinctly different.  Fern and Angelique are my favorites.

I found this TFS aftershave a while ago and it’s excellent, but I haven’t been able to find it again!

Holy cr_p, a best fougere thread without mentioning Paco Rabanne Pour Homme !!!!!!

My overall favourite fougere was also one of the first fragrances I bought when I was 13 years old back in the 1980’s.

Paco Rabanne Pour Homme was a more thick dense and green fragrance back then. The one you can buy today is still great, but not as great as the one from the 1980’s.

Houbigant Fougere Royale is considered the first fougere scent made, and it’s great too.

Azzaro Pour Homme is a fougere with anise in it, and the version you can get today is still a very very very good fougere fragrance. In fact it’s one of my favourite fragrances of all time.

Mousee illumimee is dope. Long lasting with good projection.

Infact Rogue perfumery has some very unique old school frags. Being ifra non compliant they do use oakmoss in good quantities in their frags.

Isn't Clubman considered a fougere?

The quintessential barbshop scent is definitely a fougère, which I always love seeing since it always throws a big wrench into the "what REALLY is a barbershop" existential discussions that I enjoy even if the answer is as mysterious as how many licks it takes to get to the center of a Tootsie Pop.

Interesting, I didn’t realize that Clubman was in the fougere wheelhouse.

Rather than the BEST fougere, what would be the most quintessential fougere splash that is readily available today, without stalking the bay or waiting for a limited run? In other words, which splash today best exemplifies conventional/archetypical/straight up fougere without creative twists/improvements?
