I've kept myself at arm's length with the 2 band vs. 3 band badger hair debate over the years...mostly to avoid SBAD but also because I didn't think there was really that much difference. But now I think I want to do a video and/or article about it. What pair of brushes do you think would most dramatically show the performance difference between 2 band and 3 band badger brushes?
I had replied on another forum but the heavy-handed mods over there deleted my post.
I think the least expensive way for you to compare the two different knots in an apples-to-apples comparison would be to get a pair of Maseto Shaving (formerly LS) 30-mm "Chubby-3 killers". I've owned both of these MS 2 & 3 band and I personally prefer the 2-band variant.
2-band (Finest): http://www.ebay.com/itm/222189264774
3-band (silvertip): http://www.ebay.com/itm/322181254371

You're getting yourself into a lot of trouble as there are so many distinct differences even between the respective 2-Band or 3-Band knots.
However, if you are determined to do the video, then the best option for good quality brushes would be Shavemac, as they offer both bands. If you want a more economical perspective, then TGN would be a good option, or most sellers on ebay would be fine.
Erik's suggestion, above, with the Maseto brushes is what I was initially going to suggest as they are superb brushes for the money.
This is not a hole you want to fall in, too deeply, as it can be very expensive.
Best of luck

Yes I'm leaning to Shavemac right now....

Best of luck and I surely hope you aren't overly curious, especially, with the 2-Band variant as there can be differences when factoring in loft, density and even batch of hair and you could be investing quite a large sum of money if you wanted to.
