Best Almond Tallow Shave Soap

Fool that I am, I sold my vintage Crabtree & Evelyn Sweet Almond shaving soaps. Now I'd like to have once again an almond shave soap to pair with my C&E Sweet Almond shaving cream for superlather, and I'm quite partial to tallow-based soaps. I've tried a few other almond-scented ones in the past and haven't been completely satisfied. What do you think is the best tallow shaving soap in an almond scent?

John, I don't really care for the typical almond scent, but Mystic Water Almond/Vanilla would be my recommendation.

John, I'd strongly recommend the Boellis Panama 1924. Definitely my favourite almond soap/croap, by far and, to be honest, I wouldn't bother superlathering with it. The performance, alone is outstanding.

I received a jar of "Biotique" shave soap as part of a PIF some time ago. I have no idea if it is tallow-based or not, but the stuff performs extremely well.

It looks pretty gross in the tub, to be honest, and the scent from the tub is slightly off-putting to me, but it definitely matures and becomes quite pleasant during blooming and lathering, and the performance is really quite remarkable. I've tried to over/under saturate it and I still get a nice, slick lather with great protection.

Actually...I'm not 100% positive it's supposed to be an almond scent. It is certainly "almondy" to my nose, but nowhere on the package is there a scent label. It's just a green jar with an almond colored croap inside that blooms into a pretty decent scent that rings of almond to my inexperienced nose...

I seem to like most of them. D.R. Harris, Cella, P.160, Valobra. You could get a quality unscented soap and rely on the scent strength of the cream.

Stirling makes a good almond as does mystic waters. I had the Cella, but it does have a definitive shelf life. You hold onto it too long and it does go bad. Actually Cella is the only soap I owned that went that way..great scent though.

I've used that one in the past, David, thanks for the suggestion. I liked it, but it wasn't really a favorite.

I've tried Boellis Panama, P160, Trumper, Harris, T&H, Caswell-Massey, Ichabod Conk, Valobra, Cella - and probably others I'm not recalling. I haven't tried many of the artisan ones; I just tend to shy away from those in favor of the traditional hard soaps.

Using an unscented soap is indeed an idea to consider, since the vintage C&E cream is pretty strongly scented. Thanks for the idea.

I have the Almond scented soap from D.R Harris.

Though I don't use it as much as I should be, the performance of that soap is amazing.
