beard oils - what is everyone using?

Thats pretty high praise coming from a beardo BadDad , it seems that when hawns sets his mind to something it gets done and done right. I'm looking forward to trying this product because I've tried a few different brands from among those you listed and I've generally come to the point where I'm not using anything. The wax/balms feel weird like you say, especially if you move your face like when you talk, smile or eat. Then there's the oils that are unscented but smell like cooking oil or don't work or as you say give you tinsel face. Chatillon Lux beard oil in Fourth and Pine scent would be awesome.

To reiterate...this is my honest opinion, 100%. There was no promise made nor was there any request from hawns for a review. He sent me the product as a surprise because that is just the kind of decent human being he is, and I provided him my feedback because he deserved it.  I am providing my review of the product after using it daily for a week because the performance of this beard oil deserves to be recognized. No other reasons or ulterior motives.

Take it for what it is worth to you, but I encourage everyone with facial hair to give Chatillon Lux beard oil a fair trial when it is available...

I can confirm: this is the result of me having an address and you having a picture of a giant beard in your profile picture and wanting to send something unsolicited so there wouldn't be any pressure for compensation of any type. Basically I was looking for a guy who has extensive experience with beard oils and you were my huckleberry, haha.

But thanks, Chris, that's so awesome to hear. I was hoping that was the case, as I used argan oil as the base as argan-oil products help tame my somewhat unruly hair. It was this and another product tester who convinced me to go ahead and release the product on December 20 along with the next batch of Unconditional Surrender EdT. Probably just unscented and one flavor (likely Fourth & Pine since it's light, citrusy and generally unoffensive).

And for anyone curious, the ingredients are argan oil, jojoba oil, avocado oil, hemp seed oil, vegetable glycerin and sodium lactate.

Overall, thanks so much for your detailed and thoughtful review. And or helping out a bare-faced brother who grew out a beard, tried out the oil, then realized I had nothing to compare it to, haha.

I've been pretty happy with how the salve works with my beard. is the beard oil that much different than the salve?

andrewjs18 If you're digging the salve, no reason to switch. If it ain't broke and all of that. It is quite a bit different. Less moisturizing, less shine, probably a substantial amount less weight on the beard, as well. I think, and BadDad correct me if I'm wrong, but I would think that the beard oil is probably nice once you get past the inch mark or so. In my mind, it seemed to me like hair product. When my hair is shorter, I use a heavier pomade with more hold that weights the hair down. But if I let my hair get longer, I use something lighter with enough control to keep the shape I want, but too much weight and it can make my hair lose some of its body.

Of course, that doesn't mean that someone with a shorter beard might not enjoy the beard oil, but I was certainly targeting product testers with a long, luxurious beard for those reasons.

And pictures, well, I had a meeting with a client and shaved the beard off with no documentation, may she rest in peace. It wasn't much of a beard at all. Beard is probably a generous term. But this is as long as I ever let my beard get back when I had one (and it was even shorter than in this pic), so my problems were more of the itchy skin variety than the unruly beard variety:

The longer a beard gets the less control is actually needed. Gravity takes over at a certain point and everything falls more naturally, so you use less heavy product to control it for you.

When my beard was shorter I used balm fairly regularly as the waxes and butters used provided excellent control. Now that my beard is over 6" long from bottom lip to tip, I don't need that kind of control, just a little manageability, which oils tend to provide. I believe the glycerin in the Chatillon Lux oil is what gave just a little boost in control to this oil, and being water solvable helps explain why it did not cause buildup the way butters and waxes can...

I use a brand called Beard Whiskey. His "Tobacco Bourbon" and "Brown Sugar Fig" scents are amazing. I'll discard all of my oils and only buy Chatillion Lux if Shawn ever makes a tobacco bourbon scent. lol.

It's always better to prefer natural beard oil that is suitable for skin type.
