Did your sniff tester give a yea or nay? I have to say I am even more curious to give this soap a run based on your feedback.

I don't think this sounds like one that will pass the wife test for me though. Will have to be a "weekday" soap most likely.

My wife told me the A/S smelt like tooth decay and asked me if Will mixed it up with the Hallows which she said smelt like chocolate maple syrup.

I however love the scent of it.  To me it smells similar to the Awesome Aftershave

They both contain civetone, so that doesn't surprise me.

I really hate to say thus because it has become so cliche in wet shaving products, but this TRULY is a ymmv scent. I am on the fence about it, close to falling off, but I can totally see some folks liking it. I think tho that you need to decide if you are going to wear for your own pleasure or as an "in the mood" scent that your SO would be turned on by; if it's the latter, I think you will need to run it by them first (after you have worn it for about an hour and the dry down really kicks in). Again, thus is all scent-personal; the product itself, as an AS and as a complex scent creation, is outstanding.

As for my "sniffer," I didn't ask her if she liked it, only if she smelled anything perfume or cologne on me and she said she did, faintly (being a married man & her not my wife, that was as far as I was willing to go!).

LegalEagle1 - that's a great description. I agree with most of your observations. I will also wait and see if it grows on me. I enjoy the scent but wonder how it will be once I splash it all over my face.

Interesting! Now that you mention it, I can see how civetone comes across in accenting the animalic nature of the musk. The scent feels "warm", which is often an effect I get from civet.
