Rhapsody was actually inspired by New York, so I highly recommend checking that out. I'd love to know who's comparing 42 to that particular fragrance; I hadn't heard that one.

My personal favorites:
  • Le Grand Chypre and Chanel Pour Monsieur, Chanel 31 Rue Cambon, or Guerlain Mitsouko
  • Leviathan and MPG Santal Noble, which inspired it.
  • Vetyver Santal and Guerlain Vetiver
  • Roam and Diptyque Volutes or Knize Ten
  • Oceana and Bvlgari Aqua Pour Homme
  • Fougère Imperiale and either Grey Flannel or Guerlain Mouchoir de Monsieur
  • Fougère Aromatique and MDCI Invasion Barbare
  • (this is a weird one) Lavanille and Lubin Korrigan
  • Hallows and Slumberhouse Ore
  • Taiga and Slumberhouse Norne

Thanks for posting these Will. My wife likes Diptyque candles and I have a few samples of their fragrances which I am enjoying. I will check out Guerlain Vetiver to pair with my Vetyver Santal I just received from you yesterday. I also wish I could somehow find some new Roam and Rhapsody shaving soaps. Do you have plans to offer either of those in the future?

Sure do. Rhapsody will return in the Spring (full release calendar to be posted at the end of December) and Roam will be released as a special edition for reddit's /r/wet_shavers community. If you join and participate, shouldn't be hard to get on the list. Smile

I'm enjoying Vetyver Santa by itself. I shaved last night and then when going to bed my wife said I put too much aftershave on. She liked the smell but said it was to much because she had a headache. I told her I didn't put anything on...lol, just shaved with my B&M.

Vetiver has tremendous longevity, even from soap. It wouldn't surprise me if you could smell it for most of the day.

It is lovely for sure. I finish it up with some Guerlain Vetiver Happy2

Thanks for posting, Will. Some interesting pairings. I've never tried Korrigan so I'll have to give it a shot. I posted 42/New York in the original post but I think I probably confused it with Rhapsody, which makes more sense.

This is a great thread! I had a "oh, right, DUH!" moment when Will mentioned Leviathan being based on MPG Santal Noble. The association I always had with Leviathan was Dior Leather Oud, though to be fair it's not like they're dead ringers. But I DO think Leviathan and Leather Oud make a good pairing; if you haven't already bathed in the lovely Leviathan splash, that is.

Oh, and another pairing I like is B&M Bay Rum, Captain's Choice Bay Rum splash (I don't have the Bay Rum Kyovu!), and then Comme des Garçons Dover Street Market EdT. Works well.
