B&M seems to me to be the soap maker for fragrance lovers. And the new LGC is no exception. I decided to wear Dior Eau Sauvage after shaving with LGC the other day. I thought they complimented each other. I also tend to use By Kilian A Taste of Heaven or Caron Pour Un Homme after using B&M's Leviathan. I've heard 42 resembles PdN New York.

I wondered if other people out there have favorite pairings for these three and the other of B&M's excellent smelling (and performing) soaps.

I'm hoping Will from B&M chimes in, too.

Hi Ungerwoo, you should post on Will's Artisan thread as he always weighs in there. Also, in case you haven't seen it, on the B&M website there is a new Blog tab where Will blogs about fragrances. I think you would find it interesting.

For me, Barrister & Mann Cheshire and Penhaligon's Blenheim Bouquet complement rach other beautifully and I believe I have mentioned this to Will.

Will's scents are just incredible, matched only by the soaps' performance.

What I like about Barrister & Mann is their Aftershaves/Cologne don't need to be supplemented with some other fragrance. They stand (and last) on their own. They are time travels to the golden age of colognes. I am more tempted to buy an old bottle to hold B&M than pair it with any modern cologne.

A'chiming I shall go!

Rhapsody was actually inspired by New York, so I highly recommend checking that out. I'd love to know who's comparing 42 to that particular fragrance; I hadn't heard that one.

My personal favorites:
  • Le Grand Chypre and Chanel Pour Monsieur, Chanel 31 Rue Cambon, or Guerlain Mitsouko
  • Leviathan and MPG Santal Noble, which inspired it.
  • Vetyver Santal and Guerlain Vetiver
  • Roam and Diptyque Volutes or Knize Ten
  • Oceana and Bvlgari Aqua Pour Homme
  • Fougère Imperiale and either Grey Flannel or Guerlain Mouchoir de Monsieur
  • Fougère Aromatique and MDCI Invasion Barbare
  • (this is a weird one) Lavanille and Lubin Korrigan
  • Hallows and Slumberhouse Ore
  • Taiga and Slumberhouse Norne

  • Well, Pour un Homme de Caron is the perfume that inspired it and they thus go extremely well together, but Korrigan compliments the chocolate-like nature of Lavanille in more interesting ways.

Thanks for posting these Will. My wife likes Diptyque candles and I have a few samples of their fragrances which I am enjoying. I will check out Guerlain Vetiver to pair with my Vetyver Santal I just received from you yesterday. I also wish I could somehow find some new Roam and Rhapsody shaving soaps. Do you have plans to offer either of those in the future?

Cheers, will see if I can get a sample of it (and Santal Noble as well).

Sure do. Rhapsody will return in the Spring (full release calendar to be posted at the end of December) and Roam will be released as a special edition for reddit's /r/wet_shavers community. If you join and participate, shouldn't be hard to get on the list. Smile
