I can't help with the latest glissant version of Arctique but the prior version (nor any other in collection, glissant or not) has shown this sort of wear.

I've now used my new container of Arctique soap just four times, and I seem to be using up the soap far faster than any other B&M soap I have owned. I was just wondering if anyone else is experiencing a similar occurrence, and if Will has an explanation for this. I'm definitely not overloading my brush as after three passes, I am not left with an excess of lather. I have used around a dozen different scents of B&M soap over the past two to three years, and have never used so much soap in such short a time. Here's a couple of pics showing remaining soap after just four shaves. In the first pic, you can start to see daylight through the base in one spot. I have a reserve container, just received. Perhaps I need to order another one, or two, at this rate!

I have the first Tre Citta version and it was much softer than normal. I would guess that would still be true with the Glissant base. If you load it like the normal B&M soaps, I'd have to assume that you're picking up a hell of a lot more soap.

That's true, but the interesting thing is that I haven't had a substantial amount of lather left over from three passes, which is what I would expect to happen if I had overloaded my brushes.

Hi David, I pulled my tub out last night to tee it up for use later in the week and looking at it, didn't notice much more than a marginal "dent" if that after three uses.

I will lather it up, shed a few glorious menthol tears and after wiping my eyes take a better look.

If my memory hasn't failed me, a soapmaker (possibly Will himself!) mentioned ages ago on another site that menthol can soften soaps and as a result they load much more quickly and heavily. This might have been in reference to playing with formulae or scent profiles.

It was indeed me. In fact, I said it on the preceding page as well! Menthol, especially at extremely high levels, has weird effects on soap chemistry. It turned our vegan soap base into creamy goo, for instance.

That must have been it! I recall pestering you with a number of questions back when you were tweaking the Tre Citta base, and you were of course awesome about humoring me.

On a side note, have you been playing around with vetiver recently? Anise & Vetiver, VHCS and Ferox are some of my favorite balanced uses of vetiver ever and I'm almost out!

No, our only upcoming vetiver soap for the time being will be Hallows. Vetiver doesn't tend to do that well for us, so I mostly use it as a supporting note in other things.

Hi David, had a real tear jerker this morning with my tub of Arctique. There is wear, perhaps more so than firmer soaps but after (4) uses did verify that I have plenty left and no where near the bottom of the tub.

I used a large synthetic today and can't recall what brushes I have used in the past but I generally do use big boys, whether natural or synthetic.

Not much help I'm afraid...
