Answered my own question: http://www.hosursandal.com/why-sandalwoo...expensive/

I don't know if this is the whole story...

I wonder which is more expensive, the Sandalwood or the Vanilla used in the Vanille Soap.

Sandalwood. By a factor of two.

Yikes. I wonder if you ever did make what direction you would go with for the complexity of the scent.

Your release calendar calls Baudelaire a "semi-limited" limited release. (I also see that that is what you've called the 42 release.) Does that mean a limited release with a pre-sale?
Thanks.

While the hype and acclaim allowed us to make a fair quantity, eventually, sales slowed down and they were simply too expensive to continue to carry as part of the inventory. Coupled with the fact that everyone and their uncle had begun doing a fougère by then, it no longer made sense for us to make them. It's also why Beaudelaire is going to be done the same way as 42 was: pre-orders, retail distribution, etc. Smile

Can you sign me up for the Baudelaire, Will, please
I own the 3 other Black Label soaps, but because I was an idiot, I never bought the Baudelaire

So far I need these:

Lavanille
Baudelaire
Rhapsody
42
Arctic

It would be awesome if you would consider making a more true Sandalwood soap in the White/luxury line. More true than the Latha Sandalwood. I know sandalwood e oil is expensive, but would be a great addition to the line.

Too expensive, Claus. Even the good sandalwood replacers like Hindinol and Limbwood cost a fortune. Sorry.

But, when the Beaudelaire pre-order opens (which will be in late June), I'll definitely let you know about it. Promise. Smile

Thanks Will, I appreciate it HIGHLY !

I honestly couldn't say. It's not something I've considered for soap production. I'd probably build it out into something inspired by grand sandalwood masterpieces, particularly Chanel Bois des Iles/

Yep, that's exactly it. It's semi-limited in that we'll only make it once this year, but there will be no cap or limit on how many people can pre-order/purchase. Smile

I received my 42 today. I put some AS on my forearm as a tester. It was a really nice opening. My wife enjoyed it. The dry down is patchouli. I'm not sure about that.

Packaging wise I noticed a couple things.

The AS label goes back to the "paper" label rather than the new glossy label like LGC or Rhapsody. I like the glossy label.

And it looks like they are using new shipping boxes which were larger and required packing peanuts. I was surprised to see they were not the corn starch variety I could have composted. I sort of have a hate for styrofoam Smile

The illustration is awesome. I think B&M is doing a great job on their graphics. It pretty much sold me on the set.

I'm really looking forward to the new Reserve splash.

No set date yet. We're hoping either July or August.
