I have both B&M Petrichor and Stirling Ozark - they are nothing alike.  Petrichor smells like after the rain soil and Ozark smells (to me) like PineSol.  I really don't care for it - bad PineSol associations.

Is Petrichor similar to Ozark Mountain? It sounds like it to me, other than the dust in the air part.

I unfortunately have not smelled Ozark Mountain or Summer Storm.

Interesting. I love Ozark and I don't get Pine Sol at all. I get a wet forest smell, with more emphasis on wet, or a dew type smell. Regardless, Petrichor sounds like a nice scent.

When I tried Summer Storm I got a smell of cut grass more than anything else, so I'd be curious to find out how different Petrichor smells. I've personally wondered if geography has any effect on the smell, and with Will's info about where geosmin comes from, now I'm wondering even more.

Its interesting how individual perceptions of what I assume are the same scents can vary so much (see Hobbyist above) - barring accidental variations in adding scent by the maker which I think almost never happens, what one person perceives very positively repels another. Go figure. There are so many factors going into the perception of smell that its as individual a thing as there can be. I realize that many people enjoy the Ozark scent and I really wanted to be one of them but try as I might I just can't get past that mental connection to pineSol. Its funny because I generally like forrest, woody smells. I love the smell of burning pine tar into the bases of old wood mountaineering skis. Forrest smells vary as well, the forrest east of the rockies smells different than that west of the rockies smells different from the coastal rainforrest and so on. What a wonderful world we live in.

To get this thread back on to Barrister & Mann, I have to say that IMHO, Will Barrister_N_Mann comes closest of any of the soaps that I have tried to what I perceive as "natural" scents like Petrichor or Hallows.

That's actually part of the reason that we stopped making it. Some people were disappointed that it didn't smell like their local version of petrichor, which, of course, would be impossible for me to replicate. In a lot of cases, it's not just the scent of geosmin, but of decaying organic matter, pine, certain soil minerals, etc. I got some pretty angry emails about it, though. Was weird.

I'd buy that soap.  drjenkinsou are very talented indeed.Happy2

It should also include a hint of decaying swamp and the smell of a lightning bolt in a summer rain.
