So its rusting Smile Does it smell the same?

No, it's not rusting. It's reacting with oxygen. Vanillin's not ferrous, so it can't rust.

It actually smells a bit richer than the earlier versions, which is why we've stuck with it. Smile

I was kidding Smile A bit richer means I need to try it to compare - it qualifies as a different soap in my book.

Vanillin is such a great compound. I used to open a bottle of it in the lab from time to time just to smell it. That was years ago but probably set the stage for my current love of Lavanille.

Just wanted to jump in here (as a DFS newbie) and express my great affection for Will's work at B&M. Like another poster said, it feels like half my soap collection is B&M at this point, to where I've started culling the ones I don't totally love (only a few) so I can give them to friends who haven't yet experienced a great tallow soap like this. I appreciate Will's approach to fragrance composition, which always strikes me as intelligent and careful. It often results in idiosyncratic compositions, which can be divisive at times, but I'd rather that sort of creativity than a line of bland offend-no-one scents (some other artisan lines start to veer toward car air freshener territory or obvious functional fragrance compounds).

In any event, thanks for the great stuff, Will, and like many others here, I'm looking forward to what comes next.

(Oh, and that new Glissant base really is nice!)

Are the details on night music still classified or has it been leaked to the media?

Greg I asked Will about this earlier today and his response was that the Night Music's note list will be announced tomorrow.

Today I received the B&M Leviathan aftershave splash I ordered from Will. I haven't used it yet but I put a little on my hand and it smells really nice. It's a complex scent for sure but I can detect the coffee note which I love. Now I just need to figure out what to pair it with. I no longer have a coffee scented soap and Leviathan is sold out everywhere. I think it would go really well with Reef Point Espresso but I sold that off regrettably.

I think it would go with B&M Hallows, Nocturne, Petrichor and CBs Midnight Dreary to name a few.

I don't have any of those unfortunately. I have 4 B&Ms at present, Vetyver Santal, Dickens, Solarian, and Lavanille. I think Lavanille would work now that I think about it.

I just shaved with CF Cedar and Sandalwood from a sample I received today and followed it up with Leviathan and it smells great. The CF has a weak scent to my surprise so it worked out well.
