B&M Lavanille color

I just received Lavanille today from B&M and was a bit surprised by the lather color. I bloomed the soap with water and noticed the color was swirled all around the water like food coloring would look like. I poured out the water and the brown was coming off. I loaded my brush and the lather was light brown in color. Is this normal? What is the brown from, because part of the soap is white, such as the entire bottom and sides. I don't really like it though because I'm afraid it will stain my Thater silvertip.

Yeah I had Lavanille, the brown bloom and lather is off putting. I for one couldn't stand the smell and the color, like smearing poo on my face. Had to trade it for Leviathan. Much better.

Yep, that's normal. The lather definitely looks different too, reminds me of frothed coffee, at least in appearance.

From memory the brown colour is because of the vanilla extract Will uses. When it gets exposed to air it oxidises into the dark brown colour you can find on the top of the soap. My initial sample from Maggards actually looked rather cool, mostly light brown with a swirl of dark brown running through it. If you dig some soap out past the brown layer then leave it the surface will turn dark brown.

Hasn't stained either my brushes or my face towels, and I suspect it won't unless you don't wash your brush or something.

It lathered up as good as any other B&M but the scent is not for me. It's not a bad scent either, just not something I will enjoy shaving with.

I haven't used the lavanille yet. Was curious as whether or not the color would effect the brush as well. I get a strong chocate smell when I smell it. I'm curious as to the way it smells when I lather it. Need to get the Aftershave splash as well.

I lathered it on my face and the scent was still chocolate like. I don't like chocolate scented soaps so it's getting sold. I can see where it is a love it or hate it scent, but I don't hate it at all, just don't prefer that type of scent while shaving. I was expecting something different with the lavender, cedar, vanilla, and musk notes.

Maybe once the dark color is what gives the strong chocolate smell?

It may be. If the dark color is vanilla extract, then perhaps when mixed with lavender it gives off that type of scent. I have most of those essential oils so I might mix them today to see.
