Your company,, like exotic sports GT manufacturers, shouldn't compete on price and volume as it not your competitive strength. Racing to the bottom in price and quality is ill advised just as moving manufacturing to China would speed production, lower costs and increase profit. Also, once one cheapens a product within the line to achieve volume, one can never recover the brand exclusivity, perception and reputation sacrificed.

How do then explain why Wolfman, Blackland, etc. offer different levels of polish/finishes at different price points? More options equates to more customers in my view.

I could respond very thoroughly to this post but other vendors did not solicit opinions. The response was directed to AD specifically as they had so asked, was polite, measured and reasoned.

I participated in the La Faulx passaround on another shaving forum. The razor I tried was polished stainless steel with the "Classic" (smallest) blade gap. The high polish and swooping lines made it a gorgeous work of art. I ordered one after I sent the passaround razor on its way.

The reason I ordered it was not its beauty, but how well it shaved for me. It was the best razor for me that I've used to date, and I've had several high-end razors that are popular among wetshaving hobbyists. For the price of the La Faulx, I expect it to be beautifully-polished and near-perfect. I look forward to owning and using this beauty. But I also see the appeal in Atelier DURDAN offering the same razor in less expensive finish options for people who want the design and performance but a lower price point.

I'm delighted to announce that we will shortly be offering our new machined finishes for sale. In the past, such finishes were not an option due to the pronounced machining marks left by our machines. However, thanks to the acquisition of a new machine and improvements to our machining processes, we have managed to achieve a truly exceptional result.
I would like to stress that our company, consisting of Chloé and myself, is not aiming for large-scale production. Our level of bespoke customization simply doesn't allow us to scale up production massively. However, we are considering the possibility of offering non-customizable models from stock in the future, in order to meet wider demand.
To give you an idea of the beauty of these finishes, I'd like to share with you some photos of pieces made using this new technique. You'll be able to appreciate the level of detail and precision that characterize these creations. I promise to show you more next week.

We are pleased to inform you that this new finish will be available on our website from Friday June 9. We look forward to introducing you to the exceptional quality and finish of these machined pieces, which will enhance your living space.

We would like to express our gratitude to our loyal customers, who have been a source of inspiration to us in our constant quest for improvement. Your continued support encourages us to push the boundaries of high-end craftsmanship, while remaining humble in the face of our passion for our craft.

We're also introducing a basic polished version. This finish retains the unique traces of machining, but adds more shine and highlights to your shaver.
These two new finish options will be available on our brand-new website. We invite you to visit it from tomorrow 09/06 at the following address: www.atelier-durdan.com
For a sneak preview of our new machined finish, you can watch our demonstration video here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n_g3y-vVCG8

Here's a Le Maurice mix: left in polished premium titanium, center in sandblasted stainless steel and right in sandblasted copper.
