Last shave with the kit. Didn't disappoint! I still feel this was the Goldilocks plate even though I normally go with the most aggressive option. I'll look forward to my brass 1.5 No.7 but will consider additional plates in the future. Thanks so much to Atelier Durdan and GlazedBoker for making this happen. It's on its way to Emg06 and hope he enjoys it as much as I did. Thanks to everyone else that took part in this generous passaround!
I read the past 6 or so pages of the thread and some great reviews from you guys there.
Not sure if anyone earlier in the thread head shaves, but I ordered the 1.1 and will primarily use it for head shaving. I've really been thinking I may have made a mistake and if it might be too aggressive, and/or if I should have ordered a second baseplate such as the 0.9 or 0.7 with it. Anyone have any opinions. Ideally, I'd probably like to shave every 2-3 days on average (closer to two). I know the 0.9 wasn't included in the pass around, so that probably makes it a bit harder to answer that question. I was also going to ask if production had started on my razor and if not, ask to swap to a different plate, or if it has started, ask to add a second baseplate to go with the 1.1.
By the way, one other reason I quoted your post, I wanted to ask about the MdC soap. I'd been thinking buying one so I thought I'd ask your opinion on it? I have hard water where I live, so I wasn't sure if I should spend the money on it. I've heard it lasts a long time, so if that is correct, that actually makes the value for money pretty good despite the higher initial cost, it seems like it will pay itself off over the long run? Is it a good performing soap?
