Consecutive Daily Shaves - # 1,559

This soap base with the bear tallow was why I placed another order and this is a nice bright scent. It's light but there to enjoy. It came with a slight animalistic note I've heard about with other artisans in the past and so left it sit lid off for a couple nights which cleared it out and left the pleasant scent it is fter the base scent wifted off. Nice easy lather that had everything needed to have a great shave. I especially like how cleanly it seems to rinse off when done.

1st run with the La Faux with a Schick Proline installed. Loading the blade was easy and no issues with it accepting a proline blade as some AC SE's do. I don't think the issue lies with the blades manufacturing stamps changing as some have eluded to and glad to see an SE razor that accepts these as many have it as a preferred blade. Drop onto the pins of the top cap and set the baseplate down onto it and thread the handle on. The titanium has a nice weight to it and comfortable on the skin. I found the shave to be mild feeling but got the job done. Looking forward to some more shaves with this new to the market razor now available made to order in a number of metals. Have a great day everyone !

2nd shave with the La Faulx and this time I chose to amp it up a little with a Feather Pro Super blade which is wider and gives a little more exposure. This helped with the efficiency for me but maintained the smoothness and comfort. I do get a little drag from it and I'm not sure if it's the extra length on the baseplate or the relationship of the head designed angle versus the angle the blade is held. Either way this produced a very comfortable shave with a good efficiency. Not as good for me as some in efficiency but more comfortable than thise choices too. Looking forward to tomorrows shave and will clean and mail it off to ALI hopefully Monday. Have a great day everyone !

First 2 shaves were very good.  I’ll post my full thoughts this weekend and will get the razor cleaned and mailed to the next member.

First of all, thanks to Atelier DURDAN and cornbread for this passaround.

Razor is cleaned and packed and I will get this out to ewk .

Some thoughts:
  • Build quality on this razor is first rate. Fit and finish is excellent.
  • I used Prolines and Feather pro supers and both fit no problem. My experience is that if those two blades fit, all AC blades will fit. This is a big advantage in my book; I've never understood why some AC razors aren't compatible with all blades.
  • Razor is on the mild side. I suspect this is 100% addressed by the new, more aggressive plates Atelier DURDAN is offering.
  • The safety bar offers a unique face feel. It was not draggy for me, as some have experienced. I am not sure if I prefer the face feel of this type of safety bar, but I can say it is a unique face feel, which at the end of the day, is important when deciding whether to add a new razor to the den.
  • Handle was nice and balanced the razor well. Perhaps the knurling could be more pronounced or sharper, but perhaps it is smooth the way it is because it is very well polished.
  • Easy to shave against the grain, a litmus test for me.
  • No alum irritation.

Thanks again for the opportunity to try this razor.

La Faulx arrived a day early, and she is a beauty.

First shave this evening using a Feather Professional blade was smooth and comfortable on 24 hour growth. More thoughts to follow as weekend shaves are on 36 hours growth and include the solar panel.

La Faulx, Day 2

La Faulx is a very comfortable, smooth razor. Three passes are required for my needs. The razor is mild yet delivers a nice level of efficiency on the first pass. Blade feel is minimal, and I have absolutely no irritation, nicks, or weepers. It is too mild for troublesome areas on the dome, but AC razors are not well suited for head shaving. Outstanding razor.
