It's alcohol free right?

BR is not alcohol free, no...  But it is so smooth you'd be surprised that it does.

that's true. I use Barrister Reserve (classic & spice) on both my head and face after I shave and don't feel any 'burn'...compare that to my homemade tend skin which will let you know FOR SURE that there's alcohol in the product..

Sapone Di Paolo is my favorite artisan balm. I rank it easily up there with L’Occitane balms. Maybe better. Amazing post shave benefits.

As far as balms go, these are the ones I use the most to repair any damage that may have been caused:

Local Gent
Soap Commander
Crown & Crane
Stirling
HEV

The main A/S splash would be T&S, both new formula and the older ones have incredible skincare.

Another good one is Ginger's Garden, a bit thick so a little goes a long way, but scent lasts for a long time, good price, and great ingredients.

I like Chatillion Lux, Soap Commander and even though it's not artisan, Neutrogena Razor Defense Post Shave Lotion. Because I can pick it up at a local store.

I think Chatillon Lux and B&M reserve AS both perform really well.

In my den, Chatillon Lux and Sudsy Soapery are the kings of balm. Unfortunately, CL has discontinued its "salve" line, of which I have about 15, and replaced it with something similar. On the other hand, given that a tiny dab 'll do ya with CL, my supply will last my lifetime.

I’ve been using Wholly Kaw’s donkey milk formula shaving soap as a balm of sorts. After my last shaving pass, I brush on another coat and leave it on while I clean up and put stuff away. It’s very soothing to my skin. They make a splash, toner, and balm in some of the same scents, so I’ll probably get one or more of those to try with my next order. Anyone else try their post-shave products?

Have tried them all - really - as my face is super sensitive and suffered lot of damage over the years. Unfortunately very few have worked well, moreso in brutal hot sunny Southern summers. The downside is one gets what they pay for as the old saying goes.

ABC Balms by far far way the best but Godawfully expensive - nothing even comes remotely close, skin unbelievable, no residue and scents subtly wonderful

Al's is quite good for cold winter months but just pore clogging in summer and his scents are cheap and hideous - good luck reaching anybody there to get a response too

Institut Karite is my workout balm for outdoor run yearround. Very good residual benefit for the skin but leaves behind a sticky residue which is fine when sweating heavily

Proraso white (green tea and oatmeal) is dirt cheap if you shop about and works in top five of anything ever tried irrespective of price with no residue - its the bargain winner!
