Artisan Shaving Balms that has the most good stuff

Can't go wrong with Stirling balm, soap commander is right there with them as well. I really want to try sapone do Paulo and gingers garden in the future but hard to justify making a switch!

Come September 10th... Barrister and Mann's Barrister's Reserve will likely set a new benchmark. Though their regular Tonique ain't too shabby. Granted, they're not balms... But BR changes what you think an aftershave is capable of (trust me on this).

I also enjoy Musgo Real; really nice balm. Saponificio Varesino also has some seriously exotic ingredients and works atreat. CRSW is another one. All top notch.

Hi Aurelian28 I will concur with those who have posted about Chatillon Lux - hawns line up is really first class. He makes them in Toner, Aftershave and salve and both the toners and the aftershaves are so nourishing and conditioning that they're virtually balms IMO and the salve is like a much heavier balm, a tiny dab rubbed between moist palms and applied to the face is wonderful. They all come in the full scent line up I think except maybe Fourth and Pine which only comes in Aftershave and salve. And no, I received no benefit from Chatillon Lux for this public service announcement

BR is not alcohol free, no... But it is so smooth you'd be surprised that it does.

Stirling and Soap Commander have the best balms I've tried, with Reef Point right behind them. Excellent ingredients and moisturizing properties and great value.

I'd put Soap Commander as one of the best I have used. I wish their soaps performed a bit better for me.

I love Stirling as a company but I don't find their balms close to Soap Commander.

Wish these guys would do a joint venture on a matching soap made by Stirling and the balm by Soap Commander.

Just pick a scent from each artisan that pairs well together. For example, I pair Stirling Ozark Mountain aftershave splash with Barrister and Mann Latha Taiga. I don't even have any Soap Commander soaps right now, but I use Vision aftershave balm with a few difference soaps in my den. And two of my all-time favorite aftershaves are Stirling Executive Man and PAA Al-Fin, both of which I do not have the matching soaps anymore. I think it can be more interesting and/or enjoyable pairing different scents rather than matching everything. That's just my take on it.

I agree about Ginger's Garden. My faves are Soap Commander and Stirling for reasonably-priced artisan balms. I would like to try Reef Point's too.

Another great artisan balm is Crowne & Crane which I think was introduced to the market after this thread was originally started. I'm not sure about the ingredients as I only have samples but the face-feel is fantastic. As for scents, I think they have balms to match most, if not all, of their soap scents.
