I had to rinse out the razor like crazy. At one point I had to just open it and remove the build up in the blade with my fingers...

Too little water? Are all tallow based soaps like this? Please help!

Merkur 34C HD / Dorco Premium (first use; not sure I like it)

It does sound like you need to hydrate your lather more. Arko has always rinsed very easily for me in the past. Try adding a little bit of water at a time while you build your lather until you get a creamier texture. Good luck and enjoy your shaves!

More water. Arko will take plenty, and definitely helps create a slicker lather with less 'gunk' factor

I'll reiterate what others have said; you need to use more water.

I don't know if anybody else mentioned this, but add more water.

carlos.anglada , are you using Arko in the stick form and face lathering with a brush or are you loading the brush and bowl lathering?  I like your choice of razors, since the Merkur 34C HD was my first DE razor, too!  I've never tried the Dorco Premium blades, but know of folks who love them.  What shaving brush are you using?

We joke around a bit, but we would like to help you out! Smile

Um, I think you need more water. Actually as so many others have said, more water will fix your issue. Tallow based soaps are decidedly not any more prone to razor plugging if hydrated. Arko is great in that it has a wide range of water usage. You are not in that range yet. If you like Arko now, when you add more water you are really going to like it.

I hope you make your Arko work for you, it's a great soap. Like the gents say, add more water and work the lather.
